iGo Everywhere Universal Wall (AC) and Auto (DC) Charger with Retractable Cable Review

iGo Everywhere Universal Wall (AC) and Auto (DC) Charger with Retractable Cable
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have more than one rechargeable device -- cell phone, GPS, PDA -- the iGo is nearly a must-have. This thing replaced a console tray full of car chargers for various devices plus a charging station full of "wall-wart" chargers inside. Now a little bundle of iGo items takes care of it all.
To use it, you pull out the cord from the retractable spool (pulling on both ends, or it'll jam), plugging one end into the charger (car outlet or home), and the other end into a tip that matches the device. Then, plug the tip into the device, and let the charging begin.
Even though this particular item's description says it's for the iPod, it doesn't come with any tips. It's just the core home and car chargers and cable. To find the tips you need, visit http://www.igo.com and use the selector. The splitter that lets you charge two devices simultaneously is a nice add-on also.
Downsides to the iGo? Only two. The first is a nit: namely, you feel a bit MacGyver-ish assembling the thing into the configuration you need. The second is that the included "case" is a complete waste of time. It's barely big enough, and it wants to "squirt" the contents out the top. You'll need to find a cheap case somewhere else. (iGo, are you listening?)
Still, this thing is a really nice way to have all the chargers you need for travel and home use without the big pile of wires.

Milwaukee 49-24-0280 V28 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Job Site Radio Review

Milwaukee 49-24-0280 V28 28-Volt Lithium-Ion Job Site Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the new version of Milwaukee's jobsite radio. In addition to AC power and 12-18 volt NiCad batteries, it also runs on Milwaukee's new 28 volt lithium batteries. (Milwaukee plans to market 18v lithium batteries that will work with its already-existing 18v tools. I presume, from the item description, that those batteries will also work with this radio.)
>>>NOTE: This radio, like the previous Milwaukee jobsite radio, does **NOT** charge the cordless tool batteries it runs on. I emailed Milwaukee about this, and was told that they did not incorporate a charger because the focus of this radio is sound quality and radio reception.
I run my radio on Milwaukee's v28 lithium batteries. I would expect the same performance from Milwaukee's other batteries, with the exception that Milwaukee states that this radio will run longer per charge cycle on the v28 batteries. I'll edit this post to include the average run time for a v28 battery after I've used it several times.
Both the reception and sound quality on this radio are fantastic. The sound quality is so good (and loud, if you want it loud) that you'll be glad to listen to this radio anywhere, any time. If you like bass, the Punch EQ offers 3 levels of bass-boost. The first, or lowest, level is plenty for me. I usually listen with the bass boost off entirely.
I previously owned a Bosch PowerBox jobsite CD/Radio. The PowerBox offers many more features (including charging batteries), but I eventually returned it due to its extremely poor radio reception (even with their new external antenna) and inferior speakers.
The Milwaukee's 12 volt DC output jack (like your car's cigarette lighter plug) allows you to use the radio to power an Ipod, satellite radio, cell phone charger, etc. I particularly like the fact that this plug works when the radio is running on battery power (the Bosch PowerBox's 12v plug only works when the PowerBox is plugged in and running on AC current).
The nylon bag on the back of the radio is removable and measures 11" x 8.5" x 2.5", so it's large enough to store quite a bit of stuff (Ipod, CD player, CDs, patch cables, cell phone lighter-plug cable, etc.). The bag has dual zippers so you can leave a small opening at the top for your external audio device's connecting (patch) cable without risking the device falling out. There is also an elastic strap inside the bag to hold things in place, with spaces for 3 pens/pencils.
The LCD clock readout is visible even when the radio is off. In fact, it's visible even when the radio is unplugged and there is no battery pack in it. It's powered by two "AA" batteries (included).
This radio shuts down automatically when whatever rechargeable battery pack you are using gets low. This is important because you NEVER want to completely discharge any cordless tool battery. Doing so can cause cells within the battery to reverse polarity and become ineffective. The battery might still work if this happens, but it won't be producing as much voltage.
The soft-grip handle is comfortable and the rubber-whip style antenna is perfect for a jobsite radio. You can also attach an external antenna to a provided external connector, but the reception is great so I don't see much need for this.
To connect an Ipod or other audio source, you'll need a cable that goes from the output of your audio source to radio's auxiliary input. For an Ipod, this would be a simple patch cable with a (male) stereo mini plug on each end.
A few extra features would make this an ideal radio for any occasion. Padding in the nylon bag would be great (after all, the radio is designed to survive falls and abuse). A remote control would be useful (especially if you're working on a roof or using it in your garage or home). And a "sleep" timer and headphone jack would also be nice.
Some of the features I suggest might seem out of place on a jobsite radio, but I think this radio could find a market with people who will never even visit a "jobsite." The sound quality is there, and the styling offers a real "wow" factor. This radio could be great as a permanent fixture in a kid's room, basement, garage, etc.

Regardless, I give this radio 5 stars because it is the best jobsite radio I've ever heard. More importantly, it is compatible with Milwaukee's v28 lithium-powered cordless tools, which are, without doubt, the best cordless tools on the market.

Scosche PassPORT USB Home Charging Adapter (Black) Review

Scosche PassPORT USB Home Charging Adapter (Black)

Happy to have my SoundDock charging my iPod again. I think the thing cost $300 and I was nervous it wouldn't work with my new iPod Touch 2G--luckily someone created this gizmo. (people with car iPod adapters need the other charging converter gizmo these guys make too--it works just as well).
It may not work some some Brand X iPod speaker sets, but seems its a perfect fit with the Bose SoundDock.

Scosche Digital FM Transmitter and USB Charger Review

Scosche Digital FM Transmitter and USB Charger
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been using this product for a month now. I gave it 4 stars because my gripes are relatively minor. For one, on a sunny day the LCD screen can be almost impossible to read. I've had occasions where I've had to physically cup around the LCD in order to guess at what station I'm on. My other problem is with the uncomfortable placement of the USB port on the device. The port is right on the side of the device so I have to put my usb cable in it before I put it in the cigarette lighter. The usb cable will be bent all over after use.
The device however really works as it should. A few design flaws don't change that. Make sure to find a station with very little signal out on it already and you'll get nice sound. Not CD quality or anything but I think it's been better than the Griffin ipod car dock I used to have (that I can play my Zune, my old Ipod Nano, and my cousin's sirius portable).
I've attached the usb cable to an old usb hub I had laying around so I can power multiple devices on the very rare occasions that I do. I recommend using an old hub either way so you have your usb slots available to you at any time. Even an extender will do well for you.
If the manufacturer made one with a nicer LCD screen and a more comfortably place USB slot, I think they'd have a winning product just on the versatility alone.

CAR KIT (BLACK COLOR) - FM Transmitter/ Car Charger and Cradle For Apple iPod / iTouch MP3 PLayer Review

CAR KIT (BLACK COLOR) - FM Transmitter/ Car Charger and Cradle For Apple iPod / iTouch MP3 PLayer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have to say, I am disappointed. I bought this for my husband for Christmas and it's pretty worthless. The sound quality is horrible when using the FM transmitter, it does not charge the iPod as promised, the part that plugs in to the cigarette lighter moves and our iPod has face planted a few times(ouch!). The cord that connects the iPod to the car (our car has the mp3 port(thingy) in it) works reasonably well. The only problem is if it turns the wrong way you get this loud, awful noise. I say spend a little extra money and get something of quality.

Factory-Reconditioned Bosch PB10-CDR-RT Power Box Advanced Job Site Radio with CD Player and Remote Control Review

Factory-Reconditioned Bosch PB10-CDR-RT Power Box Advanced Job Site Radio with CD Player and Remote Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I saw this device on job-site not too long after it was released. I had to search around to find it, now it's for sale everywhere.
Pros:
-cage allows it to be chained down with ladders and job box.
-cord wrap keeps cable tidy when not in use.
-light weight.
-square shape lets you stack it on a two wheeler (unlike the DW & Mil).
-snap-down CD tray keeps discs from jamming if you tip it or crash into it with a skyjack.
-EQ was designed to be LOUD and fill a room with sound (see cons).
-on-board GFCI cleans up cable clutter.
-12v output and mini-jack input lets me tie in an i-pod or other gear.
-battery charger cabinet holds 8-9 CD jewel cases for safe transport!
CONS:
-EQ was not designed for the audiophile carpenter. If you want booming lows and tight high-end, buy a Bose Wave Radio and hope you don't trash it.
-no line out jack for sending to a transmitter or other device.
-FM reception is garbage, I use CDs and MP3s unless we are listening to AM.
-backlit display is not designed for viewing above horizontal. If you have the box setting on the ground, you must tip it back (or lay on the floor) to read the display. From above you see all possible icons.
-volume control doesn't give you much room for subtle music. I normally keep it on 1 or 2. Volume is electronic with a momentary up-down control via a shuttle knob (on the left)
-GFCI doors flip up, so you have to tip the unit to the side to see the plugs for mating. I just tore the doors off after a while. I figured, why have rain lids? I work indoors well after the job has been dry.
-all of the nooks and crannies on the molded case collect a LOT of dust and debris.
HINT!
The antenna is discretely hidden in the round top handle. I disassembled the unit, cut the antenna lead to the handle and soldered it to a retractable antenna (from my local RadioShack) that I attached easily to the top of the main shell. I do not reccomend this procedure, but I can tell you, it SIGNIFICANTLY increased my FM reception.

I am frequently on the road for my job and use my fm transmitter often. Reception is clear and the sound quality is good. Generally, works well in urban and rural areas. I live in the Phoenix area and I've never experienced problems. However, I had difficulty finding a frequency with clear reception in the LA area.

After using it twice, the scroll wheel no longer works, meaning I can't tune it manually, and rely on the InteliSense to find a station for me. Fine, except it's terrible. Two blocks after selecting a station, the radio starts overriding the signal again. The broken wheel also means I can't control any of the settings, whatever they may be. The only thing this is good for now is charging my iPhone in the car.

BlackBerry Charging Pod for BlackBerry Bold 9000 Review

BlackBerry Charging Pod for BlackBerry Bold 9000
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this charging pod to use as a bedside stand for my new BlackBerry Bold. I'd read online that some didn't like it because when the Bold is in the pod it can easily tip.
In my usage I have not had any problems with the base tumbling. There's a grippy rubber bottom to the stand that further keeps it from moving around when knocked.
Could you inadvertently knock over your Bold while it's in this stand? Absolutely. The bold sticks up about 4 to 6" so it becomes an easier target. That's going to be an issue with any charging stand of this type.
What's cool (and I didn't expect) is there's a white light at the back of this pod so you can find it in the dark (useful if used as bedside charger stand) to re-cradle your BlackBerry Bold.
As the description say's, this is a charging pod only - you'll need to supply your own charger (and BlackBerry Bold).
The fit is perfect. Drop your Bold. It charges. Enough said.
I'm buying another for my office.
