Reecom R-1650 Weather Alert Radio With AM/FM Clock Radio Review

Reecom R-1650 Weather Alert Radio With AM/FM Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

I originally bought the Midland WR300 Weather Radio, and was so disappointed in its performance, that I went and read more of the 500+ reviews on that product. Based upon a few of the reviews, I ended up purchasing this item from Reecom, and returning the Midland.
Much better backlight (green vs the Midland's blue), and the biggest and most important difference is its simple setup and programming compared to the Midland.
Don't be fooled by the Midland's high ratings.
The Reecom costs a little more, but well worth the money.

Honeywell RN507W NOAA FM Radio with Atomic Clock Review

Honeywell RN507W NOAA FM Radio with Atomic Clock
Average Reviews:

This product has been rendered useless because of its design. The NOAA weather reports (which are the only reason you'd buy it in the first place) BLARE out of the radio. You cannot lower the volume to anything approaching a reasonable level. A call to their tech support line confirmed this design flaw. I was advised to hook up my own external speakers to it that can control the volume. That ruins the "portable" feature of the radio. My opinion - avoid this horribly designed weather alert radio.

MIDLAND HH50 Pocket Weather Radio Review

MIDLAND HH50 Pocket Weather Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a number of so-called weather alert radios. Without fail they all have a myrid of features that really dont have a lot to do with simply giving me a weather forecast for my area. This one does, in a simple, straight-forward manner, provide me with a weather forecast and alert if I so choose, and thats basically it. It doesn't fry eggs, give the weather for China, text message, or any other questionably related functions. It is lightweight, simple to use and does what they say it will do.
What will they think of next!

Uniden Atlantis VHF Waterproof Marine Radio Review

Uniden Atlantis VHF Waterproof Marine Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just got this VHF Radio. I have a fixed mount unit in my bigger boat and my test showed with line of sight transmission it goes about 5 miles very well and then starts to drop off because the antenna on this handheld radio will limit your distance. I set it up to connect to my long VHF antenna in the big boat and tested it out to 7 miles with a friends boat that had a fixed mount VHF radio. At that point it started to get a weak signal. This is a very good radio with good battery life, all during my testing at 5 watts (about 3 hours almost full time) the battery was still showing fully charged. This is a good product for the money. I plan on using it as a back up unit to hail nearby boats in case of emergency. You can spend a lot more on better radios, but this one fit my needs well.
