(More customer reviews)I was looking for a decent, relatively low-priced boombox for my bedroom, and I ended up buying a CFDS22. The unit is nicely designed. The controls are easy to use, and very straightforward. At the time I bought it, having the 0-10 keys to go to a specific track with 1 touch seemed like an unnecessary novelty, but if you like programming your music selections, you'll really love it. The cd component has a full range of programming options. You can select random play, or program specific tracks with or without the random play option. The CD player will play just about anything. I haven't had a problem with CD-Rs, and it plays all but the most scratched up disks (which I couldn't get to play on any of my other players either).
The tape deck, like most boombox tape decks, isn't the greatest, but it will enable you to make a decent cassette tape from a CD, if you want to make copies for the car, for example. The cassette tape controls aren't electronic, but the power to the deck is, which allows synchronous recording of cds when the 'record' button is pushed on the cassette deck.
I found the sound quality from CDs to be above average for a boombox model in this price range. If you're looking for an inexpensive stereo to suit a small room, I would definately recommend it.

(More customer reviews)Purchased it to use on job sites; didn't need anything too fancy, the smaller size is what attracted me. The cassette feature along with CD seemed like a nice bonus.
However, after one week the CD Player would not play a disc, instead read "no disc" even when one was inserted. I later have read where this is a common failure with this unit. I returned it and tried another, but this one gave the "no disc" error right out of the box. Very disappointing product from Sony.
I ended up returning it and got something else entirely. Don't waste your time on this product.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this CD player for my daughters room and its been working great since we purchased it. I guess my only compliant is that the volume increase/decrease option is not available on the remote and it took me a minute to find it where it was on the actual radio. Turns out its a dial on the left hand side, opposite side of the AM/FM turner. Also - I put batteries in the radio and they dont seem to provide a DC voltage. They were new batteries so it shouldn't be an issue with the them... I am still looking into this. The ipod option is great and we have been using our iphones to play pandora, etc. Its very portable and we really like it so far. Its definitely worth the price. Also has a small clock that lights up blue at night so you can see the time in the dark.

Unfortunately NOT ONE of the radio stations would tune in. Tried at work and at home and couldn't get a single station. Very disappointing. Also, the sound was not too great either. But I have to say, this is first return I have ever made thru Amazon and returning so far has been painless. Makes me like and trust shopping at Amazon even more.

(More customer reviews)I received this memorex MI7706P Party Cube Sound System for Ipod and phone from Amazon Vine for review. Here's my take on it.
This cube makes a great docking station and has loudspeakers that work well in a smaller room or, say, out on a deck. It has decent, if not booming, sound which fit my needs perfectly. I dislike earbuds and the cube works well when I'm at my computer. With the AC access, it's good for everything and the rechargeable lithium battery holds a charge for four to six hours while powering and charging your iPod.
In addition, there's a digital AM/FM tuner with presets so you can listen to radio as well as iPod, however, you need to use the antenna which is on the flimsy side.
A line-in jack allows you to connect other audio devices.
The cube has an attractive design and is a useful size for most situations-pool side, beach, deck or medium-sized room and the wraparound speaker system provides 360 degree sound.
Recommended.

(More customer reviews)The Memorex Party Cube is a docking boombox designed to pair up with a range of Apple iPod and iPhone products. It also offers its own built-in CD and AM/FM tuner sources. Its compact design, sturdy build and rechargeable battery make it a great option for bringing your music on-the-go. It also provides lots of sound thanks to its multi-directional speaker array, although the range of frequencies (especially low-end) is limited.
The Party Cube is roughly the size of a four-slice toaster and easy to carry thanks to its folding handle. It is made from heavy-duty plastic that feels like it would stand up to lots of jostling with minimal scratches and scuffs. The bottom of the unit is slightly rubberized for some grip - this would be useful for keeping it in place while in motion on boats and RVs. A very nice feature is that it carries its own built-in rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries, which means that it should hold a charge even if it's been shelved for some time. This feature further suits the Party Cube for on-the-fly use whenever you're heading out to the park or the beach.
The controls are simple and straightforward (play/pause/stop/track/skip/etc.), but in order to accommodate the variety of Apple products that it can dock with, there are some clear omissions. For example, when docking my iPod, I was surprised to see that there is no means for navigating the menus or selecting albums/playlists. In order to do so, you have to use the actual controls on the face of the iPod. The Party Cube does come with an adjustable backing behind the dock so that you can press the portable's buttons without worrying about bending the connection pins. I was surprised to see that the Party Cube did not come with any sort of remote control, which should have been included in order to get the most utility out of its strengths.
Soundwise, the Party Cube provided a mixed bag: it is plenty loud and easy to hear in all directions, but sound quality was not terribly impressive. The omnidirectional array of speakers makes it great for picnics or grilling on the deck - wherever you place it, everyone is hearing the same sound. Treble was not quite tinny but definitely a bit flat; bass was virtually non-existent due to the small size of the speaker cones. However, the Party Cube does provide a lot of amplification power, making it very well-suited to outdoor use. Assuming that you're not looking for perfect fidelity when using the Party Cube, the deficiencies in sound quality are an acceptable trade-off for the size of the unit.

* Built-in rechargeable LiON battery means its always ready to go

* So-so sound quality

With so many dockable speaker products crowing the Apple market, the Party Cube stands out as a great option for travel and outdoor use. Whether you boat or camp frequently, or if you're just looking for something that's always ready to throw tunes way down the beach, this is highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these units and found that the volume function on the remote does not work on either unit. I contacted XACT (which was a huge hassle) and talked to supervisor after supervisor and the only explanation they could give me to why the volume could not be adjusted from the remote was that " it was manufactured that way"... are you kidding, i had stereo's 20 years ago that had a remote that could control volume. Other than that the unit is fine, but I just feel a state of the art "deluxe" boom box should be able to adjust the voulume via the remote. Why else would you waste 2 buttons on the tiny remote. It is just a pain to have to physically increase or decrease the volume manually.

Insignia Water-Resistant Boombox with Apple iPod Dock NS-B4113 Review

(More customer reviews)...Some improvements need to be made. I bought one this past Monday and tried it at work today. The highest level you can get the volume up to isn't that high at all. That's fine if you're just going to use it poolside or whatever, but I was looking for something more sturdy for a workplace atmosphere, and the noise in the autobody shop drowns out this little guy.
I like the design, but the display is about as basic as it gets and it takes a while for it to load a CD.
Why doesn't anyone make a sturdy water resistant boombox anymore?! Is there not a market for them? Sony has a pro one, but it's WAY more expensive and is really meant for a construction site. Why must 9/10 of the ipod-capable mini-systems/boomboxes just suck and have junk design? There's no way that this flimsy little radio should cost as much as it does.

Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this docking station for use while deployed to Iraq and I hijacked my wife's Amazon account to do it (smart, right?). It is surprisingly light and slim, especially considering the fullness, crispness, and volume of the sound that it produces. I have not been disappointed, particularly at this price point.
Features that I really like:
1. Dual voltage, which is great for overseas travel.
2. Comes with power adapter.
3. AUX-IN capability has been very useful for plugging in to my laptop for movies.
4. They did away with the iPod inserts, and the design ingeniously allows whatever iPod you insert to rest against a back stop, so that you aren't stressing the connector when you push on the iPod to control it.
5. Remote is simple on features but works very well even when not pointed directly at the unit.
Features that could still be improved:
1. The carry case is more like a dust cover. It is made from the same material those re-usable grocery bags are made from. I am not complaining that it doesn't come with something more substantial at this price, but I do hope that Logitech or some other manufacturer makes something with padding for those of us who travel a lot. I'd be happy to purchase it as an accessory.
2. The AC adapter would be even better if the prongs folded in, as many travel adapters do.
3. You can't use an iPod touch that has a case on it. The docking area narrows toward the bottom making the width a problem--even with slim fitting cases. This just means you have to have a case that comes off easily or one that has a detachable bottom.
Overall I give this a 5 star rating. I waited about a month and a half for this to be released based on initial industry industry reviews (CNET, etc.) and features; I am not disappointed. The sound is great. It is portable. It looks good. It is not extremely expensive. Those all add up to a real winner. I own a Bose Sound Dock (original) and feel that the sound is better on that speaker system--fuller bass and it fills the room a bit better, however the price was double and it is not portable. I challenge anyone to find something higher quality and more versatile for the $150 or under range.

(More customer reviews)I was having a hard time finding an ipod dock with a radio for under $50 that wasnt poorly made.I have been through two in 3 years, they just stopped playing my ipod, dont know why, guess you get what you pay for in this case, jvc for $20 and an ihome(no radio) for $25 When i saw this one i immediately liked the way it looked. Cool shape and color (matches my ipod classic's case) It had a radio and was only $30! I got it and i am pleasntly surprised with the sound! Its very clear and you can crank it without any distortion! Also it has an aux port. Overall I give it 5 out of 5, Great sound, Cool look, Its lightweight, Should last a long time, Aux is a plus. I highly recomend this player!!!

And at under $100 it's super, inexpensive value.
This unit is made & distributed for a big box retailer and sometimes the Insignia brand has not
produced the best products. However with this unit, Insignia has hit a home run with this
