Samsung YEPP YP-F1Z - Digital player / radio - flash 1 GB - WMA, Ogg, MP3 Review

Samsung YEPP YP-F1Z - Digital player / radio - flash 1 GB - WMA, Ogg, MP3
Average Reviews:

The Samsung YP-F1 1 gb mp3 player is a small, but useful little player. The display is easy-to-read, it has a built-in clip for easy mounting on your person, and it is one of the very few players that still supports the Mass Storage Device protocol, meaning that you can drag-and-drop files on it as though it was a little hard drive (my favorite part, as I can't stand most of the sync programs).
Sound quality is good, even with the included headphones, and the controls are intuitive. The only real drawback that I have found is that the battery life is not what was advertised. I tend to get three to four hours before it needs to be recharged; less if I have it plugged into the car stereo.

Creative Labs NOMAD II Digital Audio Player Review

Creative Labs NOMAD II Digital Audio Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Before I bought the NOMAD II, I read a lot of reviews from Amazon. I saw there were a few downsides to this product, but I took my chances anyway and I do not regret it at all. I believe this product to be the best mp3 player out in the market now.
I admit, I don't know much about mp3 players (this being my first one), but compared to the reviews of the other top selling players, the NOMAD didn't really have much drastic flaws to it.
I'm not going to get all technical now, except the fact that NOMAD can support other future formats like WMA, and most of the other top-selling ones do not.
OKay...NOMAD has a limited memory of 64MB. Most of the others do too. Yeah, there are some that hold 96MB now, but who knows...wait a few years and it'll probably be a couple Gigabytes...that is, if future formats of music files do not make mp3's obsolete...or if you really want to wait that long for it to come out. When you think about it, it's not really all that bad. Of course, people would like the player to hold infinite amount of music... 64MB is just not enough, I know. I'd love it so much if one Smartmedia card could hold 100 songs compared to 12-15...I also wished CD's and tapes can hold that much at one time, too. Speaking of that, hey...can tapes zip from one track to another? Does it give CD quality sounds like the mp3 players do? Can tapes hold more than 20-30 songs averaging 5 minutes a piece? And CD's? Burn as many mixed song CD's you'd like, but you can only do them once on each CD, that is, if you do not mess it up in the process...and they take a lot of time. Plus, you can't hold that many songs in there either. Basically, you got the same limits as you always had with portable music players with the exception of a lot of extra convenience involved. Believe me, this little gadget is very convenient. It's light as a feather. It won't skip. It won't "eat the tape", wear down the motor, wear down any heads (tape heads),...no need to clean the heads or lenses since there are no moving parts. The mp3 player isn't fragile like CD players. You bump into someone with your CD player in your backpack, there's a pretty good chance your CD player will be...killed. With this unit, you don't need a backpack. Just slip it into your front pocket. Run into anyone you want and I'll guarantee there'll be no damage to your unit...unless the person you ran into beats you up first and punches you in the chest, crushing it. I could go on forever with this but I must point out some other "downsides" to this unit.
I read somewhere that the FM radio wasn't that great on this. Works fine for me. I mean if I were in a basement with no windows, surely I'd get bad radio receptions. I'm not saying that the reviewer who wrote the complaint about bad reception lives in a basement...I'm just saying radio signals vary wherever you go or wherever you are. I get good reception where I'm at now, but if I move south of my neighborhood, I get static on my FM radio...as well as my cellular phone.
Some reviewer said this unit doesn't have a fast forward or rewind...YEAH IT DOES! Hold the ">>" or "

iriver T7 Volcano 4 GB USB MP3 Player (Sky Blue) Review

iriver T7 Volcano 4 GB USB MP3 Player (Sky Blue)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the iRiver T7 because I wanted a player with:
- built in USB plug
- Radio
- MSC mode for use with drag n drop
I previously had an iRiver T30 and got used to it's quirky complexity.
Compared with the T30 the T7 is very slow in all operations, playlists don't work in MSC mode, and the radio frequency shifts slightly after a short while. Even small details have changed for the worse, such as audio stopping while in the Settings and Browse menus, buttons are now harder to feel/press, and you have to press any button once to "wake up" the player before buttons can be used normally.

Sansa Clip+ 4 GB MP3 Player (White) Review

Sansa Clip+ 4 GB MP3 Player (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I owned the first generation clip, and the new 8gb clip+ retains everything that was great about the first while adding all around refinements.
Pros:
- Overall build quality has improved, but especially with the clip mechanism.
- Files on MicroSD integrate seemlessly with the on board memory.
- The volume and power buttons have more ergonomic placement on the device.
- Sound quality remains great.
- Audiobook files can be sped up slightly to save some "reading" time.
- The interface is a little smoother and nicer to move through.
- The square trackpad makes it easier to navigate without looking at the player. (good for runners)Cons:
- No cap on the MicroSD slot, so that could potentially get dirty. If you don't need gimmicks such as touch screens and web browsers, then this player is quite possibly the best on the market for value, size, and quality. The Clip+ is definitely worth the few extra bucks over what the first gen clip is selling for now.UPDATE: Having used the product for a while the one thing I'm disappointed with is battery life. The meter drains down to 50% at the expected pace, and then goes from 50% to 0 quite fast. I haven't timed it but i'm sure the battery life (using all default settings) is quite less than the advertised 14-15 hours.

SanDisk Sansa Clip 1 GB MP3 Player (Black) Review

SanDisk Sansa Clip 1 GB MP3 Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Sandisk Sansa Clip 1GB is a great value MP3 player. It has the same capacity as the iPod Shuffle at $35. It also has a screen, FM Tuner, voice recording and more. You can get the 2GB version for $25-40 more.
Pros -
+ good sound
+ nice capacity for a decent price
+ light-weight
+ FM tuner (20 Presets)
+ voice recording
+ nice design with color options
+ Nice format compatibility (MP3, DRM WMA, WMA, Audible)
+ USB 1.1 and 2.0 connectivity
+ Can be used as a USB drive / mass storage
+ Can sync music with drag & drop or via software
+ 15 hours battery life is better than Creative Clip Plus
Cons
- larger than the 2nd and 3rd generation iPod shuffles
- for just $20 more you get the 2GB Clip with added features
The new Sandisk Sansa Clip has the advantages of the iPod shuffle with some of the compatibility, feature, and price benefits of other MP3 players. Unlike the Sansa Express, which you can plug in directly into your USB port, the clip uses a standard USB B cable.
The Clip is definitely a little bigger than the iPod shuffle, but not by much. It has a great feel and a nicer clip. It is also priced VERY well for the holidays. It fills the market for a starter MP3, workout unit, or gift.
The rechargable battery seems better than the Creative Zen Stone Plus and gives you a respectable 15 hours. The sound is nice. The earbuds are passable for beginners but most people will replace them. As for durability, only time will tell; so far it's holding up nicely.
The Zen Clip also has a larger 2GB option. For those needing more space, you will have to explore the Creative Zen, Sandisk Sansa View or new iPod Nano. All of those units have higher price tags.
Sandisk 2GB Pink Sansa Clip
SanDisk Sansa View 8 GB MP3 Player
SanDisk Sansa View 16 GB MP3 Player
Creative Zen 4 GB (Black)
Creative Zen 8 GB (Black)
Creative Zen 16 GB (Black)
Sandisk SDMX4-4096 Sansa e260 4 GB MP3 Player with SD Expansion Slot
SanDisk SDMX4-8192 Sansa e280 8 GB MP3 Player (Black)
Apple 4 GB iPod nano AAC/MP3 Player Silver (3rd Generation)
Apple 8 GB iPod nano AAC/MP3 Player Black (3rd Generation)
Overall, an awesome starter unit that deserves a try. Enjoy!!!
