(More customer reviews)The Samsung YP-F1 1 gb mp3 player is a small, but useful little player. The display is easy-to-read, it has a built-in clip for easy mounting on your person, and it is one of the very few players that still supports the Mass Storage Device protocol, meaning that you can drag-and-drop files on it as though it was a little hard drive (my favorite part, as I can't stand most of the sync programs).
Sound quality is good, even with the included headphones, and the controls are intuitive. The only real drawback that I have found is that the battery life is not what was advertised. I tend to get three to four hours before it needs to be recharged; less if I have it plugged into the car stereo.

(More customer reviews)A while back I was looking for a small cheap MP3 player that I could use while I take the train to and from work. I wanted something that was around 1gb-4gb and under $40. It would have plenty of space for the hour or so of travel I do every day and i wouldn't be too disappointed if I lost it or it got broken. I opted for the ematic because it was the cheapest of the options and its lure as a video player although I was not expecting much.
This device didn't even live up to my meager expectations. The device was poorly made with the USB port sticking out significantly from the case instead of being flush. Also the earphones were so poorly made they broke within two weeks of use. The MP3 player itself didn't last much longer. Within two months the audio jack became loose and eventually wouldn't transmit any audio.
While the device was working, the audio quality could be considered substandard at best. Often times I had to crank the volume all the way to 31 (wtf, why does it go to 31) to hear songs. There was no distinguishable base at all. I didn't use the head phones long enough to determine their sound quality. Also the menu was confusing and searching for songs is impossible. In regards to video, it might as well not of had it images were grainy and overall indistinguishable.
Overall if you want a really cheap MP3 player with "video player" ability this may be one of your only choices. However it is not worth the $20 I spent on it.

Philips GoGear Raga 4 GB MP3 Player (Silver) Review

(More customer reviews)I just picked this up yesterday at Target. It's very easy to use. It pretty much comes to you fully charged up, I just plugged in the USB to my computer and was loading music onto this thing within a few minutes. I can't vouch for the Songbird software, I'm not going to use it...that's just not how I load music onto my players. It's the perfect size for holding in your hand or dropping in your pocket, and it does come with the armband if you want to use it that way. It's a chunky little square and I like it. The color is cool as well, a dark graphite gray. The brightness of the display hasn't bothered me at all...I changed mine to red and it seems to be the least bright. The FM radio presets are pretty easy to set up and it does catch a lot of stations. The sound is very good for a cheapy mp3 player, very bassy. I do hate the hook-buds that come w/ it...I have very small ears and the hooks wouldn't even catch them, so I had to cut them off! (the hooks, not my ears!!) The sound quality is very good with them so I didn't want to just chunk them. The memory size is great, I currently have about 50 songs and 4 audiobooks on it and it still has tons of room to spare. The "menu" is a little tricky...you have to push the button that looks like a confused arrow that's in the middle left, and that takes you to the folders/settings. There is no folder for audiobooks! I don't like that. You just kind of have to hunt and poke around until you find your books, but it's not that big of a deal I guess. It shuffles through the songs very well...the cheapy player I had in the past just seemed to want to play the same 10 songs over and over even though I had over 60 on there. It will continually shuffle through the songs in the same order every time though. The main gripe I have about this one is that you can't delete songs directly from the player!! Argh!! You have to connect it to the computer and delete them that way. I hate that. But it's still not a deal breaker. Even with all its foibles and flaws, I still highly recommend this player.
