(More customer reviews)Apparently, the below reviews are related to a Sharper Image Humidifier unit and not this speaker unit. There are no "tanks" or "cool mist settings" on this speaker-dock. Hopefully Amazon will straighten this out. As for this speaker-dock unit.... I find it to be quite adequate overall, however a little light in the bass area. I would have also liked to have seen a remote control. I will verify for anyone having a 3Gs iPhone, this unit DOES work with it and does not give you that annoying "this is not compatible, do you want to switch to airplane mode" message. Plays and charges just fine. A decent unit all in all.

(More customer reviews)I searched a long time for a combo clock radio and docking station for my iPhone. Although there are several on the market, I wanted something that took up as little space as possible on my night stand, had a display with large numbers, would charge my iPhone, play music from my iPhone as the alarm instead of the radio, and was easy to use.
I FOUND IT!! This Sony clock radio is great, and has TONS of features. I like the large illuminated display, which has different settings depending on how bright you want the light at night. Setting the alarm is very easy (you can go forward and backward through hour and minutes, without having to run completely through the cycle like most clocks), and there are TWO alarm settings. You can set an alarm for weekdays to get you up for work, and then a separate alarm for the weekend. Pretty cool.
The snooze button is nice and big on top of the unit, and let's you take the standard 10 minute snooze, or you can keep pressing the button and lengthen the snooze time up to 60 minutes in 20 minute increments. A nice feature.
There's a sleep feature timer so you can listen to radio or iPhone/iPod music while you fall asleep. For the alarm, you can have a buzz, AM or FM radio, or a tune from your iPhone, and it works great.
Buttons on the front and side are nice and large so you don't have to grope in the dark, and there are a variety of customizable settings.
The best part is the hidden slide-out docking tray. Pop it out when you want to charge your iPhone/iPod or listen to music through the clock's speaker, and push it back in when you don't need it, making the unit's footprint as small as possible. The docking tray comes with adapters to fit iPhone or iPod. I use mine without either adapter because I have a protective case on my iPhone, but it still fits in nicely.
In reading back my review, I sound like a Sony employee, but I'm not. Have no connection to the product, other than I'm a satisfied customer, and would recommend this unit highly to anyone looking for a docking station/clock radio for their iPhone or iPod. There are too many other features to go into here. Have fun discovering all the great things Sony thought of to include on this unit.

This is Belkin and the products it charges are quite expensive in themselves and deserve an expensive car charger. It's an unstable environment with the car battery providing the charge and if you need a charger to power your iphone on a 300 mile journey with the GPS running and the music running, you better have something reliable doing the job.
This is the official product listed on the apple site. Is there anything else I can say? Been running like a beauty since 3 months or so now. No complaints.

This is the first report I am ever writing, so don't be too strict with me!
I purchased this Car Mount / FM Transmitter about a week ago and have it in use for only two days now. You take the car mount out of the box, plug it into your cigarette lighter, and it works. It holds my iPhone 3GS nicely. I have a case on (Incipio Feather Case) and I do not need to take it off, it fits perfectly as you can adjust the width of the holder as well as the back part of it (little turning knob on the back for adjustment). I would think that other iPods and earlier iPhones would also fit without problems.
The car mount comes with an audio cable which you attach to the bottom part of the holder and plug it into your iPhone so you can make calls and hear the voice over your car radio. Haven't used it much but it works quite well. The audio quality is very good, only very little background noise and in my opinion superior to what I had used before (little wireless iGrip FM adapter). I am actually impressed by the sound quality the transmitter delivers. It comes with a little on/off button that is very convenient. You can turn the device on and off and decide when you iPhone should be charged or not. When in off mode it will of course not play music through the transmitter. You have four preset buttons where you can save a frequency for quick access. The search feature is also pretty cool as you are able to find a free station within seconds. Just press two buttons at the side for about 3 seconds and the transmitter selects a station where it can send on without interference. You can easily use the car mount in both vertical and horizontal mode. This comes in handy if you want to use your iPhone for GPS navigation.
The downside of this product is that it will not fit every car I guess. I am driving a Ford Taurus 2005, and the DC outlet is inconveniently positioned, which means when I plug it in and try to adjust the whole thing, the part that goes into the outlet is too short and does not let you adjust well. the plastic parts in the middle of my car are in the way so I have to turn the whole holder slightly to the side to get it in a stable and well visible position. But this will vary from car to car and is not necessarily a negative aspect of the product.
However, when I first plugged it in, it was very hard to remove it again. I actually slightly damaged the plastic and rubber parts of the charger because I had to literally rip it out of the DC outlet. In my opinion this is because a) I have a very tight cigarette lighter (at least I think) and b) there are small rubber/gummi part on the side of the thing that goes into the outlet. The rubber parts fitted the charger so tightly that it was very hard to take it out again. When I ripped it out the rubber wore off and is now slightly damaged. I am not sure if this was my fault, but I didn't expect it to be that hard to take the charger out again. I tried it in another car after that and there it fit just well, it wasn't a problem to take it out again.
Anyway, all in all I give four stars for this product, mainly because the sound quality is amazing and it pretty much does what it is supposed to do: it holds and charges your iPhone and also plays your music through the car radio in really good quality. It is rather expensive, but so far worth the money I as I enjoy listening to non-noisy music from my iPhone in my car.
----------------- edit on January 23rd: It's been a while since I purchased this unit, and gave it a rather positive review. Due to the fact that a lot of people have experienced huge problems with this car mount system I feel like editing my first review:
I have the item in use now for about 2 months, and I would still rate this prodcut 4 stars out of five. I understand that iPhones would not work with any case (I guess the thiker the worse...), however, it does with mine. I have a very thin case called iFeather, made by Incipio (for 3GS). My unit (crossing my fingers) still works flawlessly, has not fallen into pieces, although I pulled it out and plugged it back in (different cars) many times, and does not shut off randomly. The hands free feature works well also.
I feel sorry for all those who made bad experiences with this prodcut, but wanted to tell you that there are positive stories. Honestly, given the rather high price of the unit, I would hope that it would work without problems in more cases for more people. This surely seems to be a downside of the FlexPod X2!

RCA RC65i Alarm Clock Radio with iPod/iPhone Dock (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)The first thing you notice about the unit is the flat front, rather stark but common nowadays in i-docking devices. A slide-away dock is a neat feature if/when you don't need to dock your phone. The second thing that stands out is the drab color scheme. I'm no fan of battleship gray... The aluminum mesh front is fine but the shiny plastic panel on top calls out for a more imaginative color scheme. Maybe an unfair quibble.
I looked at a lot of units before choosing this one. At this price range most were cheap looking or worse cheap-feeling. This unit is quite solid and it works as advertised, all the features I wanted, in a tidy package that doesn't take up too much space on a bedside table. Where things fall apart a little for me is in the human interface. Nothing to make me return it but I wish I had seen/touched one before I bought it.
Pros:
1. Radio and sound quality are good. The rear of the cabinet sports a small bass speaker with a tuned port firing on either side. Volume is fine for a bedside radio and sound is good if not hi-fi.
2. Excellent iPhone (3GS in my case) compatibility. Occasionally the phone gives one of Apples patented "This device is not designed to work with iPhone" messages but I bet it's a connector-mating thing because the two ARE compatible and work as advertised. You can wake to iPhone music, to a buzzer or to radio.
3. The dock accepts Apple Universal adapters. I got an adapter (white sadly) with the case I bought for my iPhone and it makes for a nice trim fit that supports the phone well while docked. Slides away neatly when not in use too.
Cons (No deal breakers but things I feel are less than perfect):
1. The front face is blank of buttons except for 4 curious touch-activated switches top-right that select basic modes: radio, ipod etc. These are a little uncertain in operation but not bad. I imagine they could be troublesome for thicker fingers? Time-set, alarm set, station presets and other less-used controls are behind the flat front on the main body of the unit. Pretty standard stuff. The most often used controls (volume, snooze, tune etc. ) are on the top edge, in fact they ARE the top edge of the unit. They can be hard to tell apart in the dark but sense memory is a wonderful thing. Undocking the iPhone is a little awkward because your natural instinct is to undock the iPhone with a finger as a lever on the top edge just where the large Snooze bar is located.
2. Setting the wake times is easy enough but the nap and sleep modes are counterintuitive to setup and even worse to cancel.
3. The blurb boasts of "auto-timeset" but don't be fooled into thinking of atomic clock signals from Denver or sideband information from a PBS station. Basically they set the clock at the factory and inserted AA batteries to keep it going. When you first plug it in you choose your US timezone and it magically seems to know the time. Remove the batteries however and it's flashing digits like every other clock :-(
4. The clock display has two brightness levels though some may think even the dim setting too bright at night. More troubling for me is the limited viewing angle. Like most displays this one is designed for maximum clarity and contrast when viewed from above. Sadly when lying in bed most people will be either level or below the line of the display, making it harder to read.
So that's it. Not entirely comprehensive but hopefully useful. Regarding price, I think it's very reasonable for the quality of the unit but I would certainly like a more imaginitive color scheme :-)

What I didn't like about it:
1)Slips out of the ipod rather easily because it lacks the little clips on the sides that some of these connectors have--very annoying.
2)The shaft of this connector that goes into the ipod wasn't long enough to connect properly after I put a rubber case protector on it. Not really the fault of this unit, but the reality is that most people will probably have a similar experience given that you buy this to use with your ipod in the car.
3)Not all channels are available, so if you find a clear channel on your car radio, it might not be available on this unit.
4)Does not scan automatically to find the next clear channel like some of the more expensive models do, so trying to get to a clear channel between this and your car stereo is at least as involved as texting while you drive. I don't recommend doing either. It's a royal pain when you're driving and you start getting interference.
To sum up, I decided to use an old cassette tape converter / connector instead. It makes a little noise due to the plastic gears spinning which is not ideal, but I usually only hear it between songs when no music is playing. (Maybe by now they've improved these and you can get one that doesn't have moving parts that make noise). That said, much better sound quality and not losing your signal and having to adjust your radio station and the station on the FM Transmitter while driving make it a much better option in my opinion.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this docking station for my wife's office so she could use her iPhone to play background music and charge the phone at the same time. It is certified to work with the iPhone 3GS, is a nice looking unit and comes with a fairly useful remote. I have another docking station with a remote that doesn't easily let me navigate the menus but it really only useful for switching tracks, pausing etc. The Sony remote, on the other hand, has menu navigation buttons so you can navigate from a song menu up a level to playlists, artists, albums etc. and I found that it worked quite well. I am a big audio guy so I wasn't very impressed with the overall sound quality. It doesn't play very loud before distorting so while it should be fine for her office for playing background music, I found it unacceptable when I tested it at our house. It gets even worse on the distortion when the bass boost is on. I think that was on by default and it sounded awful. It was better once that was disabled. For the price this docking station is about on par with others in the same price range and has a good feature set but if you really wanted to listen to music at home I would not recommend it. Perhaps a docking station that connects to your home stereo system would be better in that case or you may have to step up to the docking stations in the $400 to $600 range to get a B&W Zeppelin or maybe a Bose system.

(More customer reviews)Like the previous reviewer, I also went to a brick and mortar store to buy the previous model, which was on the display, but the inventory was for this unit, billed as a slightly newer replacement unit by Sony. This unit fixes two complaints from the previoous model: 1) the Iphone no longer sits above the snooze button; 2) the clock is far less cluttered and the display is larger and easier to see.
What really amazed me when I took it home and set it up was the sound quality. I currently have the Ihome IP9 and IP99. One of my IP9 units failed after about 10 months, so I bought this Sony unit to replace it. This unit is so much better in sound quality than the Ihome! I can't believe how great the sound is from such a small and inexpensive device. In addition, my Iphone fits snugly into this unit without any adapters, and I do not have to remove my protective case to properly dock it. I think Sony fixed the majority of complaints quite successfully with this new unit, and I am very pleased to have purchased it. I strongly recommend it over the Ihome units.

Belkin TuneCast Auto 4 for iPod and iPhone (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for an FM transmitter which charges my iPod Touch and broadcasts over FM in a convenient, usable way. Many don't transmit well, or limit you to a range of the FM spectrum which may not work for your area.
This item is the best I've found, but still not perfect.
For my Video Ipod, I used a Kensington FM transmitter (white one), which was the best. Strong transmitter, easy to use, could dial in any frequency. The only reason I stopped using it was because it doesn't charge the iPod Touch, which is a pain for long drives and days where I commute in and then listen to music at work. The battery gets low and the commute is too long to go without.
Pros:
The scan feature lets you find an empty station quickly. It discovered a new empty station for me, after a lame music station took over my old favorite freqency...jerks.
The display is nice, and there are two preset buttons, so you can set presets you like.
It charges all Ipod Touch/IPhones. My iPod Touch was bought in Jan, 2009.
Cons:
The FM transmitter isn't very strong. Its usable most of the time, but I get interference sometimes, which is annoying, but fairly rare.
I could quickly find a different station if I needed to with the search button. The transmitter is not as strong as my Kensington, but if it gets too bad, I can search for another frequency.The button you press to search for other stations is rather large. I've had that part of the controller swing over to the driver's side and hit it with my leg a few times, which changes the frequency. It probably more how my car is set up, but its still annoying. You have to have the thing somewhere and there is only so much room in a car. I should probably get some tape and mount it somewhere on the dash.
One thing to look out for with the search button is that when you hold the unit, you are acting as part of the antenna and affecting the reception, which messes up its ability to find a clean station. You need to leave the unit where it is and just press the button and take your hand away. Not a big deal, just a heads-up.
Otherwise, its a good transmitter. Not the greatest possible, but I haven't seen anything better from Kensington. The Kensington RDS FM Transmitter does charge the ipod touch as well, but I tried it and its got some quirks that made it too annoying to use. It does seem to transmit stronger, but it doesn't have a display, so you don't know which frequency it is tuned to. On the older ipods, the freq showed on the Ipod screen, but with the Touch, it doesn't show. This makes it unusable.
