DreamGear i.Sound Time Travel iPod Speaker System (Black) Review

DreamGear i.Sound Time Travel iPod Speaker System (Black)

This unit drains my ipod in about an hour. Drains it completely dead, I tried it twice. Also, despite item description, this unit has no S-video or audio/video outputs at all. Even if it worked, it's too complicated to use the alarm function on a daily basis - needs much refinement.

Wake to your favorite iPod tunes each day of the week with the DreamGeari.Sound Time Travel personal speaker system. Equipped with a high-quality built-inamplifier, an iPod docking station, and a backlit digital LED alarm clock, the Time Travelmakes a great addition to your collection of travel accessories. The system sounds crispand dynamic thanks to its pair of side speakers, which deliver a far better sound thanmost conventional clock radios. The built-in docking station, meanwhile, lets you chargeand sync an iPod 3G, iPod 4G with click wheel, iPod photo, iPod video, iPod nano (1Gand 2G), and iPod mini while you listen. Best of all, the system measures only a fewinches across, so it won't take up excess space in your luggage or on your bedside table.Other details include a sleek black finish that complements many iPods, an auxiliaryinput for connecting older iPods and other portable audio devices, A/V and S-videooutputs for hooking up to a TV or monitor (ideal for the iPod video), and a snoozebutton. The Time Travel, which runs for up to 60 hours on four AA batteries (soldseparately), is backed by a 120-day warranty.

Philips DC350 iPhone Docking System with Bluetooth Review

Philips DC350 iPhone Docking System with Bluetooth
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Unlike the other 2 users, I didn't have any problems with the shipping of this product. The original box came inside the Amazon.com box and was in good enough condition. The remote was included (which actually didn't really matter to me too much cause I don't use it).
SPEAKERS:
I bought this product primarily for it's speakers and bluetooth function and they serve quite well, although the speakers aren't wonderful, if you live in a small apartment or have it in a room it is well enough. Not powerful enough to blast music like party speakers though. The sound quality isn't as good as per se a JBL on stage sound system. I wish it had EQ, but it doesn't, but the speakers are good enough, I don't really mind.
BLUETOOTH SPEAKERPHONE:
The bluetooth speakerphone works very well and seamlessly. I never had the trouble that TechGuy experienced with the volume being to quiet. That only happens if you are listening to radio or music WHILE you are on a phone call. If you answer it, it automatically turns off the music (so you can hear the person talking). If you insist to play the music in the background of the call, it is more quiet. I can always however hear the person speaking, it's just the music that is more muted. When I have someone on speakerphone, I usually have them on volume 20 or so, and max volume is 32, so as you can see it's not a problem.
FM RADIO:
This is where I seem to have a tiny bit of problem, and it's probably more where I have placed the speaker and where my apartment is located, but the radio reception isn't particularly great and even moving it around doesn't work that well. It doesn't come with an actual antenna that you can adjust so I guess it's just too bad if you don't have good reception. I'm also not sure if weather affects the reception.
IPHONE DOCK:
Another big reason I bought this was because it has an adjustable size for the iphone dock. I have a pretty thin case on my iphone, but some docks you have to take the case off for it to fit, but this one is adjustable so you can keep the case on. That was a big deal for me as it would be the most annoying thing to do.
All in all I think this is a great unit, especially if you're using it for a small room and also use speakerphone.

iHome iP90 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Presets and Dock for iPod and iPhone (Silver) Review

iHome iP90 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Presets and Dock for iPod and iPhone (Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
iHome's previous iPod/iPhone clock radios have left something to be desired in the style department, but this one changed all that. The design is sleek and modern and the sound quality is excellent. Here are the highlights:
Pros:
* Easy to program
* Awesome sound quality
* Sleek, modern look
* Multiple volume settings (one for normal, one for sleep, etc)
* Multiple alarm settings (weekday, weekend, etc)
* Doesn't feel cheap when you touch/hold it
* Big readable display
Cons:
* Entire face is illuminated, not just the digits. Brighter overall than it should be
* Takes up a fair amount of room on a nightstand
* Remote is not illuminated
Overall I am pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. If I could change one thing about it, it would be the clock face so that the entire plate was not backlit, just the digits themselves.

Newly designed for 2010 with a bigger display and bigger sound, the iP90 lets you charge, play and wake to iPhone/iPod, and has great features like a handy remote, AM/FM pre-sets, dual alarm, Time Sync, 7-5-2 alarm settings and more. Get to work on time and well-rested thanks to this bedside companion.

Wake up on the Right Side of Bed The iP90 lets you wake or sleep to iPod, iPhone, custom playlist, or AM/FM radio, so you can start or end your day just the way you want it to sound.

Alarm Features Set two independent alarms, one for you and one for your companion, with any combination of iPhone, iPod, AM/FM radio or buzzer. "7-5-2" alarm settings allow you to schecule alarms for the full week, the work week, or the weekend with separate wake times.

The iP90 gently increases alarm volumes to make things a little less painful, and a programmable snooze time lets you sleep in a little or a lot with snooze time between 1 and 29 minutes, so there's less groaning and reaching for the alarm clock.

Sleep Function The iP90's sleep function also does things gently, lowering the volume after the selected time of 120, 90, 60, 30 or 15 minutes. It also features an independent volume from the alarm, so you can keep things quiet without worrying about waking up on time.

iPhone Time Sync Instantly sync the iP90's clock time to always-current iPhone time settings in seconds.

Quality Audio The iP90 sounds great, thanks to iHome's specially designed Reson8 speaker chambers and specially designed drivers. Reson8 is iHome's through-body ported speaker chamber technology. Porting speakers gives better bass response characteristics, and helps the iP90 deliver sound beyond its size.

For further sound adjustment, bass/treble EQ controls are included, along with balance, and a 3D sound setting for a wider sound stage.

AM/FM Radio Listen to your favorite radio programming or catch up on the news and traffic, with 6 AM / 6 FM preset stations.

Auxiliary Input The iP90 features a standard 3.5mm "mini" jack, so you can connect MP3 players, CD players, or most any other audio device.

Remote Included Controls volume, EQ, alarm functions, radio and iPod functions.

iLive CI188 Clock Radio with iPod Dock (Black) Review

iLive CI188 Clock Radio with iPod Dock (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a nice and simple alarm clock that lets you wake up to your iPod. The size is about 6"x6"x2". When I looked at other brands, almost all of them were bigger and flashier than I needed, and the time display on many of them was small or hard to read. This clock has all the basics and a nice, easy-to-read display. However, there are a few flaws:
1. It feels kinda cheap. I don't mind this, though.
2. The speakers are pretty good for an alarm clock, but when I play music that has very soft and quiet sections, the quiet parts do not come out at all. The speakers temporarily cut out and start back up again when the music gets louder. Weird. But again, I don't mind this because when I'm asleep, I can't wake up to soft music, anyway.
3. This clock has an audio out jack. It works for external speakers, but not for my headphones. When I plug speakers into it, the clock nor the iPod can adjust the volume. It's always on max. I suppose that if you had speakers with built-in adjustable volume, you can adjust the volume. Also, while the external speakers are playing, the clock speakers continue to play. You can turn down the clock volume, and the external speakers will still play. The audio in jack on the clock seems to work fine. I haven't tried the video out jack.
4. The buzzer alarm goes from quiet to really loud in about 3 or 4 seconds. But I got this clock so that I could wake up to my iPod, so I don't plan on using the buzzer that much.
5. It would be nice if this clock had a button that let you go backwards or forwards when setting the time. No biggie, though.
Despite a few kinks, this is a great clock that gets the job done. It lets me wake up to my iPod, and even when I hit the snooze button, the iPod comes back on after the appropriate time (9 min). Before I got this clock, I purchased the RCA RP5502i, and three days after I got it, the display went out. This GPX clock doesn't have as many fancy features as the RCA model, but it's a nice alternative if you're looking for something with a small footprint and a simple design.

iHome iH18 Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod shuffle (White) Review

iHome iH18 Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod shuffle (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product does exactly what is advertised. However, if you own other iHome clock radios (as I do) you may expect more. First, the sleep function only turns off the speaker system. It does not turn off the iPod Shuffle. Your Shuffle continues to play all night long. In fact, the "power off" button on the clock has no effect on the Shuffle at all. You must always turn off your shuffle independently. Second, the alarm is a buzzer only. You cannot wake up to music from your Shuffle (as you can with other iHome clock radios). Otherwise, the sound is okay, it's very compact, portable, good alarm clock.

The iHome iH18W Portable Travel Alarm Clock for iPod Shuffle (White) is the perfect portable alarm clock for when you are on the go with your iPod shuffle. This unit comes with a carrying case to protect your iPod during your travels, and lets you not only listen to the music on your shuffle, but fall asleep to it as well.
The iHome iH18W lets you listen to your music while charging your iPod shuffle by docking it in the portable alarm clock station. The alarm clock station features a portable, low-profile design that can easily go anywhere you do, and an auxiliary line-in jack with a patch cord for hooking up other MP3 players or audio devices. This unit wakes you up with a gradual buzzer, and features an alarm reset function that shuts off the alarm while automatically resetting it for the same time the following day. The sleep timer function is programmable for a 90, 60, 30, or 15-minute countdown, and even features an adjustable sleep volume that lets you select a comfortable sleep volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels.
The iHome iH18W uses two stereo neodymium micro driver speakers with 1.5 watts of total power. Not only are the alarm and time settings easy to adjust, but there's a travel lock feature that maintains your settings so that the time is automatically set as soon as you plug it in, and keeps the unit from accidentally powering on in order to save battery life. The iH18W has a multifunctional LCD with an adjustable white backlight, and is settable to both 12 and 24-hour operating modes. This alarm clock includes extra convenience features such as the ability to store your shuffle's USB cap while your iPod is docked, and a sure-alarm battery backup that maintains your clock settings and ensures the alarm wake-up time in case of a power failure. The iH18W runs via the included AC power adapter, comes in a sleek, contemporary white that matches your iPod shuffle, measures 10.2 x 3 x 6.1 inches (W x H x D), and is backed by a manufacturer's limited 90-day warranty.

JBL On Time Micro Speaker System for iPod (Black) Review

JBL On Time Micro Speaker System for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

First, the positives. The clock looks good, it has good features, and it sounds good.
Now, there are two major flaws. One, the clock has an irritating, high-pitched humming noise. This shows it has poor quality. It should not make any noise. Two, the sound is too loud. At it's lowest volume, the sound is very loud. I like to sleep with the music on. With this clock, the volume is too loud at it's lowest setting to sleep.
So, since this product is priced as a premium product, it does not offer any value. There are two flaws that you should not have to deal with at this price point.

Emerson iC172 iPod Dock Alarm Clock Radio Review

Emerson iC172 iPod Dock Alarm Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Since I just got it, I'll try to post a followup review in a few weeks.
There seems to be only 1 review on this product (everywhere, believe me I looked) and I have been tracking this for a long while to see if more review would come but alas. The price was down to $49 and since I had a 10% coupon I thought the time was perfect. I was so dubious I had to download and read the entire manual online before visiting the store to check it out. The manual made it even better than I first thought - it just doesn't make sense that the price was so low.
To be honest I guess the biggest hesitation I had about buying this was the fact that, being a gadget freak, a brand like Emerson isn't exactly one that gets me excited to covet said product. I have never owned anything with this brand.
Having said that - these are the features that changed my mind (ranked by importance):
- projection clock - the one that I had really been coveting was an Oregon Scientific one that projects during the day as well, looks really sleek, when it alarms you wave at it and it stops. It does the 180 to reverse display in case needed. And yes, atomic time was cool too for all the obvious reasons - but guess what, it costs $119. It didn't matter how much I told myself that I was 'worth it' - I just couldn't justify spending that much for something that does just one thing. No radio, no dual alarm (I think), no in/out jack. THIS ONE has all that, the projection is bright compared to my old one (I did a side by side) and the focus adjust works great. I am visually impaired so this was important. But wait, theres more!
- IPOD mode - a lot of the made for IPOD products out there do not have a projection clock. That's a deal breaker for me - so that starts to narrow the selection even further. This one has adapters for the various generation ipods and for added measure it has a line in (for shuffle or other mp3 players). So what made me give it 4 instead of 5 stars is the fact that the dock is not made for IPHONE. And I knew that when I bought it. Having said that, if you don't care to miss calls while charging, then just put it in airplane mode. Ah, but this is where the line in comes handy for me - I can't miss phone calls (because of work), so if I don't care about charging my IPhone, I connect it to the line in and voila! no more interference (the wire I use is long enough to keep the phone away from the clock). SO for IPhone, to charge - put in the ipod dock, to use - connect to line in. Its like, whoever designed this product read my mind or was in the exact predicament I was in - I really feel that ( in case (s)he happens to read this review. p.s. this product better be reliable! )
- The sound quality is decent - I mean for the price, its not really fair to compare it to the Logitach 5.1 surround setup that I have on my laptop with a Creative Audigy sound card. Like the previous reviewer, I listened to a couple of other made for IPOD gadgets and they were all pretty awful and the one that sounded decent was in the $150 - 300 range. This one to me sounded better when it was louder. The bass could be better BUT again its really not that bad. If you are such an audiophile, you probably won't feel bad spending a few hundred dollars but I bet you probably will not get all the features this $45 has.
- The dual alarms, the weekend, weekday, 7 day alarm mode, the Smart Set, Sleep Mode, headphone jack and backup battery got thrown in too and it still $45! Depending on who you are, these could be nice to haves or absolute musts. I'll take 'em - all of them! I heard horror stories about atomic clocks being iffy on the receiver's strength or the signal's strength relative to your location - so this Smart Set fixes that issue. Lets just hope that the president doesn't change the DST again in a long while - but given that this contraption is already a swiss army knife masquerading as a bedside clock I wouldn't be surprised if there was a way to adjust for future changes like that as well ,like the way Iphone does firmware updates...ok maybe not.
- Can't wait to try the hand wave snooze thing tomorrow when the 'weekend mode' on Alarm2 goes off at 9. Whee!
So the biggest gamble for me is gong with a brand I haven't used before. I am hoping to be lucky, my last projection clock radio is a no name brand JWIN and it has always been reliable since I got it as an elephant gift 6 or 7 years ago. I am so hesitant to replace it - but the lure of smart set, ipod and the 'wave' upgrade (not to mention the price point) caused me to cave. I guess once you use a projection clock you can never go back - so my little girl will get the old one in her room. (unless they can develop one that tells you the time when you want without you having to open your eyelids - kekeke, yes I am lazy, but apparently not lazy enough to write a short review).
Heck I'm on a roll, I'll continue on - what does it NOT have that I wish it did (as if all the features for $45 wasn't enough) - a smaller footprint like the Scientific Oregon, a weather sensor, a remote, a clapper, a kitty litter box cleaner, a masseuse...just to emphasize how absolutely silly it is to expect more for this price >.< I'll just be thankful if its reliable for a few years.

The iC172 iPod dock alarm clock radio by Emerson features more than an iPod docking station. Features like an integrated time display projector, dual 24-7 alarms, Emerson's patented SmartSet technology, and a "snoooze" motion sensor make it an ideal choice for your bedside.

Integrated LCD Projector The iC172 boasts an integrated LCD projector, which allows you to project the time in large, legible numerals onto your wall or ceiling. The projected display is ideal for anyone who has poor vision or a difficult time seeing without the aid of eye glasses, and of course it just looks neat. The time also displays on the 0.9-inch red LED display on the clock's face, whether or not it's being projected.

Charge and Play Your iPod The iC172 is compatible with all dockable iPod models, and charges your battery while your device is docked. When you're ready to get up and go, so is your iPod.

SmartSet With Emerson's award-winning and patented SmartSet technology, the flashing "12:00" display is a thing of the past. On the first, use the iC172 immediately sets itself to the correct year, month, date, day, and time based on the time zone you specify. It also adjusts automatically for Daylight Saving Time, Leap Year and after power outages. For those who like to set their clocks ahead a little bit to make sure they're on time, manual adjustment is also provided.

Dual Alarms The dual alarm system features two alarms that can be programmed separately--one for you and one for your partner. Both alarms can be programmed to operate on weekdays only, weekends only, or all seven days of the week.

You have the option of waking to the radio, your docked iPod, or (for the masochist) a classic buzzer.

Snooze With Ease Turn on the snooze button by simply waving your hand in front of the sensor--no need to press a button (or slam your clock radio in a rage).

Sleep to Your Favorite Tunes You can use the adjustable sleep timer (in 10 minute increments) to drift off to music on your iPod.

Auxiliary Input and Headphone Jack This system includes an Auxiliary Input (Aux) Jack on the back panel so that you can connect older non-dockable iPods, other MP3 players, CD players, etc., and listen to them through the iC172's speakers.

A headphone jack is also included for private listening.

JBL Time Machine Alarm Clock/Dock for iPod (Black) Review

JBL Time Machine Alarm Clock/Dock for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
-Dual alarms
-Progressively increasing volume of radio alarm
-Good overall sound quality
-Easy to use basic features by touch
-Informative LCD screen
Cons:
-Overdone styling
-Complicated menus/setup
-LCD screen is small and hard to read
Well, I've been living with this for about 3 weeks now, and I'm pleased with the purchase. I needed to replace an 8 year old Philips CD-radio with dual alarms mostly because the sound quality was like listening to AM radio through a drive-through restaurant speaker.
One of my top priorities, other than sound quality, was a dual alarm. I can't tell you how helpful these are if your schedule changes day to day. Not only does the JBL have dual alarms, it does it better than any other system I've seen. It has a separate on/off button for each alarm AND you have the option to have each alarm set to go off on weekdays only, weekends only, or all 7 days. This is also the first alarm I have had with a progressively increasing volume on alarm. It will start playing the music fairly soft and gradually increase the volume over the next 30 seconds or more. This is much gentler than the jarring way most alarms go off (or worse, the dreaded BEEP). Be sure, though, that if you do not respond to the alarm, it continues to get louder and should be enough to wake up even heavy sleepers. If that's not sufficient, it does have the obligitory BEEP alarm, too.
As far as sound quality goes, it's as good as your average, similarly priced "boom box." It gets plenty loud, has decent bass, and the highs are clear. It won't hold a candle to a good home theater/stereo system, but it's more than adequate for a bedroom. It's the best clock/radio I've ever heard and is easily the best iPod-specific speaker system I've tested out (though I have not listened to the Altec Lansing inMotion 7). It's not good enough to allow a sharp-eared listener to really notice the compression artifacts of the MP3s being played through your iPod.
Other nice touches include an LCD screen that is able to display a good amount of useful information. It can display Radio Data Sytem (RDS) information, though no RDS stations exist in my area so I couldn't test this out. Similarly, the LCD has an autoadjusting brightness based on ambient light (which can also be manually adjusted instead, if desired). The clock can be autoset by scanning through radio stations (assuming, of course, the station has their own clock set correctly), and a battery backup will rescue you in case of a brief power outage in the night (though the manual doesn't say if it will allow the alarm to go off if power remains out). Finally, the unit has the world's easiest-to-find snooze button. It's the big circle on the very top of the unit that looks like part of the speaker grill.
On the down side, I personally miss having a built-in CD player. I hate having to remember to take my iPod out of it and put it back in the car every day. A CD player would be a useful feature.
The LCD screen is relatively small and is angled away from you towards the ceiling in such a way that trying to read it from bed is difficult due to contrast issues (blue numbers on a slightly less bright blue background). You can adjust the contrast, but it makes it that much more difficult to read when you are standing (e.g., getting dressed). Some people may also be put off by the brightness of the LCD. If you require absolute darkness, you will not appreciate the little blue alien spacecraft sitting on your nightstand staring at you all night. To make it worse, there's a little blue LED light in the top of the circle facing down, which reflects off the unit's base in interesting ways. I would suggest that the black unit if either of these light issues are a concern.
Next up, the buttons. All of the immediate functions (volume, source select, snooze) are easy to use, even with your eyes closed, mostly because there are only a few buttons and they are distinctly laid out. However, if you have difficulty programming a VCR, you will hate trying to configure this JBL. The relatively limited number of buttons means that all the settings of the system, and there are quite a few, are buried in a hard to use interface. It consists of a series of nested menus, most of which don't make a lot of sense. It may hold an iPod, but it's nowhere near as easy to use as one. Unless you're very comfortable with obfuscated menus, or are willing to take the time to learn, you'd be better off getting something else.
I know it has garnered raves for its styling, but in reality, it doesn't really work. Sure, it's beautiful sitting on a laboratory table, but unless you're George Jetson, the unit will not match your bedroom decor. The unit stands out like a zebra in a herd of horses. It is also bigger than you think judging from the pictures, and it takes up a fair amount of nightstand real estate. I'd suggest checking out the measurements before jumping in.
Overall, I find that the positives outweigh the negatives. I'm glad the price has come down considerably from it's initial [...] to the current sub [...] range. It's the best-of-breed for iPod alarm/clock radios and makes a fine stand-alone unit even without the iPod functionality. Now I've just got to get another iPod to leave docked permanently.

Rise and shine every morning to your favorite music stored on your iPod instead of fuzzy radio stations with the uniquely designed JBL Time Machine Alarm Clock/Dock. The speakers are encased in an O-shaped bridge above the dome-shaped dock with digital clock. In addition to the iPod dock, it includes a radio, clock and dual alarm. Its two Phoenix aluminum-domed full-range transducers are driven by powerful neodymium magnets. The Ridge tweeter provides accurate high frequencies. This two-way design provides a full, rich frequency response from the lowest bass to the highest highs.

Fisher Digital Music System for iPod (PH-DTA300) Review

Fisher Digital Music System for iPod (PH-DTA300)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this item for about two weeks and hands down, it is the best Ipod Clock Radio I have had. I have bought and returned the IHome, JBL On-Time, ZipConnect Isoother, and the Teac GR-10i Clock Radio for iPod.
All of the above were great in their own way, but in looking at sound, flexibility, and price, this is hands down the most balanced system, it's a keeper.
Side by side, this compares very well to the IHome and Teac in regards to price as they are very closely priced (within $10 of each other, typically). In comparison to the IHome and Teac, one thing that was a big deal to me was the dock. I have an Ipod Video with a plastic case around it. With the Ipod Video, you will have to take the case off to use it on the IHome and Teac, with the Fisher, you do not have to take the case off. In regards to size, the 3 are very similar, but where you will see the biggest difference is in regards to the sound. The IHome gets distorted when you turn up the volume and the bass cannot compete with either the Teac or Fisher. The Teac is a great product, at a great price, but the deal breaker for me is the inability to use the Ipod Video without taking off my plastic cover. In regards to crisp highs and bass, the Teac and Fisher are comparable.
In comparing to the ZipConnect Isoother and JBL On-time, the Fisher beat the ZipConnect hands down in sound. The Isoother is more portable, but just cannot compete in louder sound level as you will hear the distortion. The Isoother is typically about $50 more than the Fisher. The only advantage I see with the Isoother are two things, the ability to use it with other MP3 players other than the Ipod and the portability. With the JBL On-Time, it is the most expensive of the items I bought. The JBL does have the best sound overall, but it also costs double the price of the Fisher. What turned me off about the JBL is for some reason whenever the unit turns on, including when the alarm triggers it sets the ipod to start playing the library (i.e. all songs) rather then continuing from where you left it. This means you lose the playlist selection, the current playing song etc. The manual states the ipod should start from the last played songs, but its not so. Its annoying as its impossible to set to wake to a specified playlist for example. My workaround is to use the ipod built in alarm feature in addition to JBL's alarm. But that shouldn't be so.
Keep in mind that if you have the Ipod Video with a plastic case, it will not fit in the IHome and the Teac. The Zipconnect Isoother and JBL On Time are the most expensive and do not have remote controls.
I hope this info helps as each product is great in it's own way and based on what you are looking for. But if you are looking for the total package in price, sound, and flexibility, the Fisher is the best, hands down.

JBL Time Machine Alarm Clock/Dock for iPod - White Review

JBL Time Machine Alarm Clock/Dock for iPod - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am an iPod speaker/charger junkie having owned the Klipsch iFi and Bose Sounddock while currently owning a Klipsch iGroove. I have been looking to get an alarm clock to wake-up to my iPod, but the iHome was not quite the audiophile quality that I was looking for.
Positives:
1) Design-If you have a modern bedroom area, this thing is a cool head-turner. Design is underplayed in this market, but it is very important!
2) Sound-The sound is excellent at low to medium levels for both the iPod as well as the radio. The highs are very distinct and bass is noticable.
3) Ability to wake up to any song you like out of thousands on your iPod. I'm not sure what the last reviewer was talking about. I have easily been able to wake up to any song I like on my On Time. I can wake up to Wham or U2 or Rob Zombie, it's my choice!
4) The On Time gradually increases the sound for a gentle wake up experience.
Negatives:
1) The interface is not that difficult, but it's more difficult than the traditional alarm clock. Once you figure out how to do it, you will be fine, but it does take some figuring out.
2) Sound at louder levels is not great, but I'm not sure that's the idea. This item has small room filling quality, but if you have a huge bedroom and want to crank up the sound this might not be for you.
3) The time could be a little bigger on the readout. When I wake up in the middle of the night to check the time, I like to look real quick and go back to sleep. The numbers could be bigger, like the iHome, but are not as bad as some others.
Overall, I would not let the negatives detract you. If you have seen this on display at the Mac Store and liked it, you will like it more once you get it home. It's cool, sounds great and interfaces with the iPod seamlessly.
******************************
A lot of talk has been made about the fact that you can only wake up to the first song in your library. At first, I thought this was not true, because I was able to wake to any song I wanted...then I updated to the newest iTunes and newest firmware for the iPod Video 60GB and BOOM---it only now plays the first song of the alphabetically first artist on the iPod. I called JBL and they said that I actually have to go back and re-install the old software and firmware in order to wake to any song I want! What? I went to the Apple Store and they said, yes, this is true. There is no way to fix this. This is a MAJOR glitch in a product that has great sound and a wonderful design. True, you can go in and re-name any song on your iTunes to be the alphabetically first artist and first song, but who really wants to do that? JBL should stick to making speakers until they can get it right. If you make this purchase, please be aware of this flaw that I was not!
