SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Pink) Review

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Pink)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
About three years ago I had purchased a Sandisk Sansa m230 Mp3 player (the blue 512 MB one). I loved the little gadget, until it was in a horrible accident involving a heavy book bag and the floor. Amazingly the player still worked, but the screen was scattered. So I used the device for the past year a bit messed up, then I saw that Sansa was coming out with the Fuze in March. I new that if my little mp3 player could be smashed by a 20 lb. book bag and still work, the Fuze would have to be wonderful.
I never even considered an iPod. They are not worth the money and friends have had way to much trouble with the devices for me to begin to think about buying one. The Fuze has all the abilities of videos, radio, pictures, music (of course), and so much more. And their prices for the about of memory that you get is amazing. Who ever uses 80 GB of memory anyway? If you do or have, I applaud your unimaginable music library.
Since I was going away to college, I decided to spend a bit of my graduation party money on one, I bought a 4 GB Pink Fuze. When it arrived, I have to admit I was surprised how small it really was. But it fit perfectly in your hand, so the smallness doesn't really affect anything. The screen is unbelievably bright. I have it set to the lowest brightness and still can see things perfectly fine in complete darkness. The turn wheel glides smoothly, and is easy to select the songs you want. The sound is wonderful also. The headphones that come with the Fuze fit so nicely and sound terrific. I wish I could buy just those!
I will admit that the screen does scratch a bit easy. I was cleaning it, something which I obsess over a bit, with an eye glass cleaning cloth and little scratches appeared when I was finished. So it might be a good idea to invest in a hard case that covers the screen or those screen protectors that companies make for GameBoys or something like that.
You should also know that you must convert videos and pictures using a download found on the sansa fuze forum. It takes a little while to download, but the conversions don't take all that long to finish. It also puts them right to the Fuze. There is also a firmware download on the Fuze forum that might be a good idea to download. It doesn't take very long either.
I love my Fuze and wish I would have bought one sooner. You can't bet the price for the memory and the quality of the product. Sansa put that little bit of effort into their products that make them extra special. For example the silicon like back on the Fuze to help the device not slide. It feels neat too. If you are thinking of buying one, DO IT! You won't regret it! They are awesome!

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black) Review

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 8 GB Video MP3 Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What I really like about it is the size, capacity, and most of all price.
The codec support is about average, not great but it satisfies my needs as 99% of my music is encoded in mp3 format.
One of my dislikes is common among all sandisk mp3 players(and most other players) is that the charging/syncing port is proprietary. Not a big issue, mini-usb would have been nice though.
Video playback was smooth(used a mp4 350MB recorded tv show) no sync problems between the audio/video and no stuttering. Too small to really be considered for video playback though.
Picture viewing is about the same as video and by that I mean it works great and the pictures look ok but the screen is so small it is not practical to show off pics with it.
Voice recording works well, don't have to hold it directly to my face to clearly record sounds...although I'm not sure what this can be used for but it is there and works well.
The radio works great, easy station browsing, easy to add stations to presets, and reception is very clear.
The sound is very accurately produced at all ranges. The included headphones fit well and sound good. The volume goes up much higher than I could ever think I would need it. For those of you who are runners, I use the earphones that come with it and they direct the sound very well into my ears so I do not have to make it too loud and can still hear some of the environmental sounds: wind noise is hardly noticeable.
The screen is easy to see in all light conditions, bright, and easy to read.
The build quality feels great. It has generous weight to it, light enough to take running and not really notice it but heavy enough to give it a solid feel. The front of the device is a bit shiny and does tend to attract fingerprints easily but not scratches so far.
Expansion port works great, currently using a 4GB microsdhc to shuttle podcasts/audiobooks between it my pc.
Navigation is a breeze and the menus are very intuitive, the scroll wheel/buttons are easy to find and press even with the player not in sight.
Syncing I very easy to do without the need for bloated software. You can add media to it via a file explorer(drag & drop) or one of several media players like WMP, winamp, and a variety of others. The datbase is auto-updating and works flawlessly. I have seen a few reviews that say the database refresh takes a while. With a completely full internal memory and half full 4gb card my refreshes only take 15-30 seconds.
A few final notes. The boot-up is about 3-5 seconds from off to playing music after pressing the power button. It will resume the music exactly where you left it when turning it off. Actual usable memory is about 7.8 GB. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars, best on the market right now but not perfect of course.
UPDATE: 2 new "cons" I have come across. Technically the device is performing as intended but I am hoping for a firmware update to "resolve" these.
1. When scrolling, the speed of scrolling does not increase. Basically takes forever if the song you want is in the second half of the alphabet. This will probably be changed in the next firmware update though.
2. The podcasts are sorted by most recent first. This kind of makes since so you dont have to scroll to the bottom to listen to the newest one but it also causes a problem if you are trying to listen to a series in order and it starts playing through them backwards. :( Probably no "fix" for this issue although being able to choose how it is sorted would be great.

Got one for each of the kids. They were sold when they saw all the same capabilities of the ipod, plus the feature of being able to listen to FM radio and RECORD SONGS FROM IT. Battery life is good, and not being tied to itunes is a plus. Simple interface to the computer, and you can use Windows Media Player to do everything if you wish. Pretty seamless. The kids are very happy... great features at a much better price than ipod.

Average Reviews:

There is no question about the need of having a MP3 Player wherever you go. It absolutely seems like the best thing for anyone to enjoy all of your favorite songs no matter what goes your way. While so many people are choosing Apple's Ipod as the constant choice, many people don't want all the fads from the gameplay of the Ipod Touch, or the ability to go online via Wi-Fi. Just the simplicity of what a MP3 Player should be about, the music. Sandisk know that feeling, as they've made the best quality MP3 Players for the past several years, and they've shown it well withe the simplest of them all.Sandisk's Sansa Fuze MP3 Player is a simple and convient way of storing and playing all your favorite music and media files, on the go. The 4 GB is easy to use, and operate with a simple flick of the thumb, as you scroll through the library of MP3 files that you download from your favorite services like Rhapsody. The playback is definitely very strong, but what makes this MP3 Player stand out well is the convience of adding extra songs to playback, all thanks to the added Micro SD Card slot, as it reads well from your extra songs you've stored in a Micro SDHC Card, which extends the variety well, so you don't have to keep plugging it into your computer just to add extra songs. While it handles well, there are couple of disadvantages to the Sansa Fuze. The first one is that the MP3 Player loses its battery life quickly only about 3-4 extended times on the go, which isn't a bad thing. It does have a better battery life than most MP3 Players out there. The second one is that if the battery is damaged, you won't be able to get it changed unlike the Ipod, where others can repair it. Still, it is easy to protect from any damage that can come its way. All in all, Sandisk's Sansa Fuze is a great MP3 Player for anyday, and any time to enjoy your favorite tunes. While it'll never be able to match the drawing power Apple has shown with its Ipod, it definitely is a great alternative for anyone who is looking for a great alternative for what Apple has cornered in the market. I absolutely recommend it as a great buy, as Sandisk knows for what makes a better MP3 Player for the music lover in you.

Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for Sansa Review

Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter and Auto Charger for Sansa
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have used this unit in Chicago, Los Angeles, and on road trips. It works well, so long as you can find a clear channel. The unit works best when it is set to the middle channel of three clear channels in a row, so that the transmitter has a clear channel on either side of it. That's pretty hard to find in a major metropolitan area, so performance sometimes suffers. On rural highways (where we use it the most) clear channels are much easier to find, and performance is much better.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Blue) Review

SanDisk Sansa Fuze 4 GB Video MP3 Player (Blue)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the best not an ipod mp3 ever! The Sandisk Sansa Fuze has well over the potential to stop the ipod dead in its tracks. Only problem is its not popular enough. So to prove the extream slimilarities to the ipod here are some comments:
-The 4g ipod:$149,the 4g sansa fuze: under $99,(Sansa's advised price is $99),coming in many more colors and just gray.
-Doesnt have a touch wheel, but has a turning wheel.(personal preferance)
-Dont need itunes so you can just get songs and videos from the internet (or windows media player)
-Full color screen and no differnece in menus, you can see the album cover, next son and everthing.
-Can pick up FM radio stations and favorite the ones you like.
-Has a voice recorder(to help remeber those sudden ingenius ideas!)
-You can also record the radio, so if you know u luike the upcoming son you can record it and save a bit of money!
Overall you can see that ipods aren't the only cool multi media, portalble devices out there! So if you dont have enough money to get a fancy smacy ipod and buy all you songs for a dollar a piece and videos for more(the majoriy of us!) this is a very good and reliable product.
Five stars
