Belkin Conserve Valet F7C008q Energy-Saving USB Charging Station Review

I really like this charger, we brought it down to a small conference and set it up in the conference office. We configured its four ports with two iPhone cables and the included mini-USB and micro-USB cables. I think it is fair to say that the device was a hit - people could put a phone of almost any stripe on the charger. Over the course of the conference, we charged maybe a dozen different types of phones (and even a MiFi) without any issues.
The one problem was the "automatic" timer. As it turns out, it's just a timed 4.5 hour switch - not some kind of smart system that detects current draw. So, if someone puts a phone on it and turns on the charger, it will go off in 4.5 hours - which is fine - unless someone else shows up two hours later and adds their phone (which will only get a 2.5 hour charge). As a result, we had a lot of phones that would not get a full charge because the device had shut off and no one had realized they needed to turn it back on. The indicator light is very, very dim (perhaps part of the energy savings?), so it's not very noticeable from a simple glance if the unit is on - you really have to look at the power light.
It's a good device, but its limitations should be resolved in the next iteration with an option to turn off the power-saving feature or to change the timer length to 8 or 16 hours.

Kensington LiquidFM Plus for MP3 Players FM Transmitter Review

Kensington LiquidFM Plus for MP3 Players FM Transmitter

I had heard good things about the LiquidFM and decided to give it a shot. I fully know that FM transmitters are a last option, bu there were a number of problems with this transmitter.
First and foremost, it will NOT charge my 30gb Zune. The Zune has been known to be particular with what USB ports it will charge from, but I would at least expect them to test the major MP3 brands.
Secondly, the cord is too short. The reason this is a problem is because the cord is used as the antenna for the transmitter. If the cord were longer, it would be more powerful, and you would be able to place the cord in a better place. The device works best in my car when I loop the antenna over my rear view mirror, maximizing the cord and significantly boosting the signal.
Finally, the device does not always pick the clearest frequency. I would often find it had picked a station with clear audio playing, rather than one with mostly static. I know this isn't a perfect science, but sometimes the difference was drastic.
I expected more out of this device. Despite all the claims, this is just another FM transmitter which does not live up to the supposed features.

Motorola 56531 Multi Unit Charger / Cloning Station Review

Motorola 56531 Multi Unit Charger / Cloning Station

I have 2 of these units and 12 of the CLS110 walkies (which by the way are AWESOME). Both of these chargers are frustrating. Rarely can you just insert the walkie for charging and have a solid light come on, which means it's charging. The light will blink meaning it's not making good contact, or the light won't come on at all so you have to jiggle and baby the walkie in the hole to get it to sit just right. In case you're wondering, the contacts on my walkies and the charger are all clean. Sometimes, when you put the walkie in, another walkie or 2 will start to blink so you're constantly playing with them to get them to all have the solid light. I explained this to Motorola and they couldn't do anything because the warranty was up. I've resorted to using cardboard pieces to angle the walkies in, having to remove the new clips from older walkies or remove the battery completely and charge it by itself. There is a separate slot within each well that takes just the battery. Overall, these things work, that is, if you have the patience to finesse each walkie in.
The only reason I use it is because it sure beats having 6 separate chargers you have to plug in.

Keep as many as six Motorola two-way radios or cordless phones charged at once with this multi-unit charger. Compatible with Motorola's CLS line of two-way communications devices, the charger not only juices up your electronics, but also makes it easy to copy settings from one radio to a fleet of radios. The cloning technology keeps business owners or managers from having to manually code frequency information into each new radio they buy--a must for the busy staffer. And because the unit has six slots, managers won't have to find outlet space for six separate chargers; they can just use the one and they're done. So make charging and cloning a radio as simple as flicking a switch with this multi-unit charger.
