Cygnett GrooveTrip II FM Transmitter with Memory Setting for iPod Review

Cygnett GrooveTrip II FM Transmitter with Memory Setting for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Cygnett GrooveTrip is the best FM transmitter I've had any experience with. First, you can choose to have it transmit on any FM station and it can hold up to 4 favorite stations in it's reprogrammable memory. Second, it's compatible with any device, just plug it into the headphone jack. Third, it's tiny (maybe an inch wide by two inches long) and lasts for over 10 hours on two AAA batteries. Fourth, it has a good range; it will transmit ten to twenty feet. Fifth, the transition quality is excellent; usually I can't tell the difference between my mp3 player being hooked up directly via line in in my car vs. being transmitted through the radio in my girfriends car.
I am completely satisfied with this purchase for all the reasons stated above.

Scosche Car FM Transmitter for iPod and MP3 Players Review

Scosche Car FM Transmitter for iPod and MP3 Players
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This device is simple, elegant and just works. It's better than several others I've tried. Since the main unit plugs directly into 12 volt power in the car, there are no batteries to worry about. Even though it has only 4 FM frequencies, even in a busy metropolitan area (Denver) I can usually find a frequency on which it will work. The sound quality is good, not great. Having an auxiliary input jack on my car stereo would be the best solution, but since the car manufacturers are hopelessly behind the times, the is the next best thing.

Play your favorite MP3s, CDs, or iPod tunes through any vehicle FM radiowhile simultaneously powering the device with this Scosche combo FMtransmitter/charger. The FM transmitter offers four selectable channels: 88.1, 88.3, 88.5,and 88.7 MHz. To use the device, simply find an empty frequency on your FM dial-- meaning a frequency that gets no reception--that corresponds to one of the fourchannels, then tune the transmitter to the same channel. The music will then playthrough the selected station, negating the need for a cassette deck adapter, auxiliaryinput, or other wired music transfer device. The charger, meanwhile, plugs into yourcigarette lighter adapter to keep your music player fully juiced as you drive, so youwon't run out of music within the first few hours of your road trip.
Compatible with iPods, MP3 players, PDAs, cassette players, portable CD players, laptops, and any other device with a 3.5 mm headphone jack, the FM transmitter/chargeroffers an operating range of up to 30 feet (10 feet or less will minimize interference andprovide the strongest signal) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

DLO TuneStik FM Transmitter with Remote for iPod (Black) Review

DLO TuneStik FM Transmitter with Remote for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Received this product about a week ago, purchased solely for the remote feature for my ipod video, mainly for my car, but also for ipod docks in my home. Since I have a dock/charger in my car, the FM transmitter was not neccessary, although a nice adddition. The remote works well, no complaints there, however, the manual states that the FM transmitter can be turned off by cycling through the four preset tuners until you reach the "off" menu. This does not exist, which I confirmed through DLO support. This is not a huge issue, but I do receive minimal static, which is not the case with my ipod mini using the Griffin remote. Sadly, Griffin no longer makes a remote for ipod video, classic and nano. Overall, if you're looking specifically for the remote function and not the FM transmitter, this product is very good, so I do recommend it. Would love to here feedback from other users.

GSI Super Quality Wireless Hands-Free Dock-Mount-Charger-FM Transmitter/Modulator-Car Kit, for Apple iPod, iPhone, Blackberry Phones, Smartphones - Audio Cable, LCD Display - Cigarette Lighter Plug-In and PLL Lock-In Technology

what you see is what you get. The product has a universal AUX cable coming out from the bottem of the dock which can be used in any cellphone with a headphone jack. The USB port on the right side facing you is for charging your device. It comes with both Micro and Mini USB cables but you can use whatever cable you have in your possession. Depending on were your cigarette lighter is located in your car you can't really have this device point straight up. If you take a turn and the dock is vertical it will tip left or right, however this is if your lighter is on your dash instead of your console. Audio is alright depending on if you find that sweet spot in the FM dial. It's big enough for the Epic 4g however EVO owners shouldn't gamble on this. For all other phone owners this is a nice Car dock in a iphone run market. If you want anything close to this it will be in peaces instead of one unit.
PROS: All in one design, universal, stylish
Cons: Will tip if vertical depending on location of lighter plugin. FM tuners need a sit down session to find the right station to sync.
I rate it 5 stars because it's the best a non iphone user can get depending on the phone and the accessory support from the main company and other companies. The tip is a problem, but I can't blame the product when it's just were the lighter is in my car. My friend has the same model, but he owns a VW were the lighter is were the emergency brake is so he have it vertical with no problems.
UPDATE***
Well mine just broke. I have theory as to why, but I wont list them because while mine broke my friend's is still working. I'll strongly recommend you to logically look at were your cigarette port is located because this thing is very top heavy.

SD/MMC/USB/MP3 Wireless In Car FM Transmitter with Remote (Black) Review

SD/MMC/USB/MP3 Wireless In Car FM Transmitter with Remote (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had many FM Wireless Transmitters over the years. This is the least expensive device and has the most features.
Some people reported that they receive it without any instructions. Additionally, I've had fuse problems with two units and have since switched to a different FM Transmitter.
If after reading this review, it helps you to either purchase this product or pass it up, I hope you'll click the YES button at the bottom of this review (this way, the review can be found by buyers trying to choose between FM Wireless Tramsmitters ... Thank you!)
IMPORTANT: Turn the volume level on the wireless FM Transmitter to medium to medium/high! I set mine on 12 (out of 15). This affects the quality of the FM transmission from the FM Wireless Transmitter to your car's stereo. Reviewers who have complained about poor quality of audio or static probably did not do this!
Additionally, if you are connecting your MP3 player (instead of SD memory card, MMC, or USB drive) you MUST turn the volume of the MP3 player up to a medium-high volume level.
WHAT TO EXPECT: The FM Wireless Transmitter is very light weight and fits loosely in the car's power adapter. When compared to other typical power adapter devices (i.e. Mobile Phone Charger), this may give you the impression of low quality.
To turn the device off, unplug it.
It is a one trick pony, that is you can not dynamically switch between SD memory card and MP3 player (or USB device). To switch between devices you will need to unplug, remove an existing device and put in another. The 1/8 inch Jack and cable for MP3 players cuts out SD memory card or USB devices. You must remove the cable to switch. (What do you expect for [...]).
An important product feature of this device is that it allows you to choose the FM frequency you would like to use to transmit to your radio. Additionally, this is the most powerful FM Transmitters that I have ever used. It easily overrides existing radio station if you choose. The signal strength of the transmission relates directly to the `VOLUME' setting (see above).
When you disconnect the FM Wireless Transmitter or shut off your car, the FM Wireless Transmitter's internal memory will store all the device setting including the last song played from a memory device. When you plug in the 1/8 mini plug cable (about 1 foot long with Male to Male plugs on both ends) to connect a MP3 Player, the attached memory cards or USB device will not be accessible. If you are using memory cards or USB drives when initially installing the device, leave the cable unplug.
The wireless remote control to the FM Wireless Transmitter works fine, but you do need to press hard enough so that within the button's switch electrical contact is made. Also, the remote is infra-red and needs to be in the line-of-site to the FM Wireless Transmitter. If the transmitter is hidden by a gearshift, or back of a seat, the remote control will not work.
PRODUCT DOCUMENTATION: The `user manual' is just a small slip of folded paper with multi-language instruction and a few inaccuracies. For example, the documentation referred to the label name/symbol of buttons on the FM Wireless Transmitter, but the physical device had different name/symbols. The product documentation referring to the remote control is accurate, and you can completely configure and control the transmitter via the remote control.
WHAT REALLY SUCKS: For what ever reason, you can blow the internal FUSE. I did replace the fuse on mine two times now in less than 2 weeks. Finally, I just gave up with it, just too lazy to replace the fuse. I think maybe that the volume level may be part of the problem and that the volume level needs to be turned down before turning off your car so that the device will not draw too much power when the car is started.
NOTE: Two spare fuses are included in the product packaging.
EASY FUSE REPLACEMENT: Unscrew the tip of plug by gripping the base of the plug firmly and the small black plastic tip at the very end (very little black plastic on the tip to take a hold of and farther to the end than the metal ring), be careful when doing this or you will drop the FUSE and loose the cap that goes over the FUSE. Once apart, it's a no-brainer to swap out the FUSE.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Buy a Micro SD memory card with an SD adapter (that accepts the micro SD card). I bought mine on Amazon from ChiTek (Amazon Vendor) for [...] and [...] shipping. The Micro SD card was 2 GB from SanDisk. The Micro SD Card slides into the SD adapter so that it is compatible with the FM Wireless Transmitter card slot. I suggest getting the Micro SD memory instead of SD memory because it will be more versatile in the near future (phones, camera's)...etc. Additionally, you if do not have a Micro SD or Mini SD card reader on your computer, you can get one from Amazon. NOTE: I have read from comments on this product that this device will not work with memory larger than 2 GB.
If you are looking for a memory card on Amazon to go with the FM Wireless Transmitter use the keyword `BULK' in your search. For an exact search for the memory product I used copy and paste = "SanDisk 2GB MicroSD/TransFlash Card w/SD Adapter".

Kensington LiquidFM Plus for MP3 Players FM Transmitter Review

Kensington LiquidFM Plus for MP3 Players FM Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had heard good things about the LiquidFM and decided to give it a shot. I fully know that FM transmitters are a last option, bu there were a number of problems with this transmitter.
First and foremost, it will NOT charge my 30gb Zune. The Zune has been known to be particular with what USB ports it will charge from, but I would at least expect them to test the major MP3 brands.
Secondly, the cord is too short. The reason this is a problem is because the cord is used as the antenna for the transmitter. If the cord were longer, it would be more powerful, and you would be able to place the cord in a better place. The device works best in my car when I loop the antenna over my rear view mirror, maximizing the cord and significantly boosting the signal.
Finally, the device does not always pick the clearest frequency. I would often find it had picked a station with clear audio playing, rather than one with mostly static. I know this isn't a perfect science, but sometimes the difference was drastic.
I expected more out of this device. Despite all the claims, this is just another FM transmitter which does not live up to the supposed features.

the clearest frequency to transmit on is 87.9. However this station is only available while the device is in international mode. Customer support will not tell you how to change the device into international BUT I WILL. Hold down the + and - button for about 20 seconds. 'US" will flash in the upper left corner. Now press the + button until you see 'intl'. Now the device will unlock ALL frequencies 87.7 - 107.9. Use 87.9 or 87.7 for best reception. Also try changing from LX to DX (stereo to mono) because DX (mono) seems to give off a stronger signal without compromising sound. your welcome.

In-Car MP3 Player and Wireless FM Radio Transmitter for USB Flash Drive and SD Card with 12V Lighter Plug
Average Reviews:

This product is pretty good for the money ($29.99). My only complaints are that it seems a little flimsily made, and that you get a split second of static between each mp3. But it does what it's supposed to do. As a clarification of an earlier post by another user, I note that the device does remember which mp3 file you were on the last time you started your car; it just doesn't remember where you were in that file, so it starts the file over again.

DJ-980 FM Modulator 3 in 1 Car Stereo System, Support USB Drive & SD card, w/ remote control. Review

DJ-980 FM Modulator 3 in 1 Car Stereo System, Support USB Drive and SD card, w/ remote control.
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have only had this for about a week and so far I like it but there are some quirks and minor complaints.
The remote control was DOA but the company quickly replaced it. The display, for me, doesn't show the full ID3 tag, only the first 7 or 8 characters/digits and then a ~1. So, "Dido - Hunter" is "Dido H~1" on the display. That's pretty annoying and technology of today shouldn't have this limitation. I have tried using ID3v1, ID3v2, and APE tag info. The unit also will fail to recognize the USB device if I have too many mp3's in the root directory of the drive. I am guessing that is what was causing me trouble. As soon as I moved the mp3s out of the root and into a folder, it recognized the drive again and started to play the music on it.
The random seed generator (shuffle function) doesn't seem to be very accurate. It seems to stick around certain areas and isn't truly random. For example, I noticed it was playing track 80, then 130, then 84, then 132, then 83, then 137, etc. There were 500 tracks, so this didn't make much sense. I have yet to see it play a 300 level track.
I also did not receive a manual with the mp3 player. It did come with a one-page manual for the remote control, but that is self-explanatory already. Knowing the mp3 player's capabilities, features, and limitations would be nice. It has all been trial and error.
Careful when you adjust the pivot angle or rotate the unit while it is on or it will get loud static and drop off the station for a few seconds. Not a big deal, but more of a heads-up.
The sound quality is surprisingly very good once you find a good channel to use. I use 192K and 256K mp3s mostly, and you can hear the quality come through with no static. Just make sure you spend some time trying out various dead or weak signals on your radio before you plug in the unit and then set the unit to that frequency. 88.1 worked for me, even though I can barely make out classical music when the player is off. It is a powerful transmitter if you have the volume level up pretty high - mine is at 12/15. That will ensure you get little to no static and hear it at the best sound quality.
When I turn off my car or remove the unit from the cigarette lighter, it does remember the last track played, but it doesn't resume WHERE in that track I left off when I power it back on. This is a major annoyance if you are listening to large mp3s or books on tape, which I do.
So, its a decent unit. I just wish the display would show the entire artist and title line from the ID3 tag and also remember where exactly I left off in a track when I power it back on. Considering the price, I'm giving it a 3 star rating.

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (White) Review

Belkin TuneCast II FM Transmitter for MP3 Players (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This thing has a range of about a foot, with really poor quality sound. It may be as good or better than other transmitters that are available, but it's still pretty lousy. Not really as good as standard FM, probably halfway between AM and FM, and interrupted by the occasional static. I modified it as described in the websites that describe how to do such things, but the sound is so crappy, that it's hardly worth the price. The modified range is about 50 feet.
I realize that it solves a problem of allowing an MP3 player to work in your car, and there aren't any good alternatives, but but this isn't going to make anyone really happy. It's just a barely passable solution. It does what it's supposed to, and if you modify it, it has much better range, but it's really not a great result.
UPDATE: I really wanted a product like this, so I bought the "whole house transmitter" right on Amazon and it works. Near FM quality sound, decent range (about 40 feet). It only broadcasts on one of 6 channels, but at least the quality is acceptable if you can find an open one, and it punches through weak stations so the channel doesn't really have to be completely clear. It's 3X the price, but that seems to be what it takes to get decent quality sound.

With this handy device you can listen to your favorite tunes through any FM stereo receiver with your iPod, PDA, PC, or laptop, even an MP3, CD, or cassette player from up to 30 feet away. The Belkin TuneCast II Mobile FM Transmitter makes it easy to wirelessly connect portable music players to your car or home stereo FM radio. Simply plug the TuneCast II into the headphone jack of your player or connect it to your PC or laptop computer, then tune your car stereo or receiver to any clear FM frequency.
There's also an auto on/off function that lets the device simply power on whenever an audio signal is detected. If there is no signal, the TuneCast II switches off after 60 seconds, helping to preserve battery life. There's also four programmable memory slots that let you save the clearest station wherever you go. The device comes with a DC cable for optional battery-free operation, but it only works with the Belkin Mobile Power Cord for 3G iPod. Batteries are included.

This gadget works pretty good, but is not perfect!
Pros:
>Has a lot of frequencies to choose from
>Good FM Stereo sound & and is pretty good most of the time (sometimes there is some interference)
>Very compact
>Actually worked with my 1GB SD card
>Comes with a remote (although you can easily operate the buttons on the unit by hand)
>Remembers set frequency and last song played if you remove it from car (or turn power to unit off)
>Great bargain for the technology
Cons:
>The display shows the frequency, track #, name of song; but it is so tiny you cannot possibly read it while driving!
>The major flaw is that you cannot jump from one folder to next, you can only advance song by song (but I suppose that's ok if you have all your favorite songs in the SD card, or plug in an external MP3 player in the jack provided)
>Another little glitch is that there is no OFF button on the device. My car's power outlet is always on. So I put the MP3 device on PAUSE when I stop listening (otherwise the songs will continue being processed by the MP3 player)

Cables To Go Port Authority2 MP3-to-FM Car and Stereo Adapter for iPods and MP3 Players Review

Cables To Go Port Authority2 MP3-to-FM Car and Stereo Adapter for iPods and MP3 Players
Average Reviews:

Like so many, we have no auxiliary input in our car to handle our (Creative Zen) hard-disk music player. We've been looking at using an FM converter for quite some time, but have been put off by the many negative reviews -- and unwilling to fork over $40 or $50 for something that sounds troublesome at best.
When we had the chance to acquire one of these new Cables-To-Go units for a very reasonable price (...), we figured we'd give it a try despite the lack of reported user experiences. To our delight, we merely plugged it in to our car's cigarette lighter port, adjusted the viewing angle of the unit, turned it on and just picked for starters the lowest frequency it supports -- 88.1. We then plugged in the clever retractable cord mini-plug to the unit with the other end to our player, hit play, and away we went with absolutely no problems! A one time adjustment to the sound level of the source lets us listen at the same volume as other sources (CD player, actual FM, etc.) and we couldn't be more pleased with the clarity and quality of this solution so far. We haven't yet taken a long trip where competing FM stations might be a problem, but suspect all will be well given the outstanding performance of the unit locally.
Our only quibble might be that the bright white finish of the item clashes a little in the car -- a neutral gray might have been preferred. (We plan to eventually hide it in our console anyway...) The lighted LED panel indicates what frquency is being used, and the auto-shutoff seems to work fine without doing something silly like shutting down during a quiet passage of music. Overall -- so far, so good !!!

Arkon SF120 SoundFeeder Wireless FM Audio Transmitter Review

Arkon SF120 SoundFeeder Wireless FM Audio Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this FM transmitter after trying the iRoc for several weeks and being unsatisfied with it. First, the range of FM channels is much greater than the iRoc I had (which only gave four presetting channels.) This way you can tune incrementally to find the perfectly clear channel for best reception. While this is very nice, I live in Dallas where radio signals fill the dial and make reception poor to worse. On a long road trip I found that you had to constantly tune the thing as you passed in and out of towns due to radio interference. The best option is for hooking my MP3 player to any cheap radio at work or in various rooms at home so I can immediately have 10gigs of music from my iPod available. This way, in the home or office, you can find the perfect channel and interference doesn't change much so you can get things perfect. For the car, I may be too picky for a FM transmitter and might have to get a better stereo with a direct jack.

Belkin Tunecast Auto Universal with Clearscan Review

Belkin Tunecast Auto Universal with Clearscan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well, it's tough to review a product when the entire category is, by definition, mediocre. FM Transmitters will never sound good. FM itself is a lower quality than most of the MP3s people will be plugging into this. Next up, in many areas, the spaces between FM stations are tight, and there's interference from adjacent channels and/or distant stations on channel. And finally, transmission power is low, due to their FCC status as unlicensed transmitters. So does this unit have static? Yes. Does the audio sound compressed and lacking in frequency range? Yes. Does volume fluctuate and signal drop out as you drive around? Yes. And do you have to find a new station every 50-100 miles on a road trip? Yes.
But these units serve a purpose. Basically, if you have any better way to pump your audio into your stereo, you should use it. USB port, iPod adapter, Aux input, and arguably even a tape deck adapter would all qualify as better. But if you're in a car that has none of these options, this is better than nothing. If it's your own car, I'd look into getting an iPod adapter or Aux input added. Most cars can have one added aftermarket, though costs vary and can be high. But if you can't afford it, or if you want something to use in rentals, friends' cars, or anywhere else there's an FM radio, this is probably as good a choice as any. I got it at a good price on Black Friday. I have an iPod input on my current car, but don't have an Aux port for use with my Evo. Even though I'm probably going to replace my car soon and should then have both an iPod and aux port, I'm keeping this so I have something if I need to take a rental or want to bring some tunes along in a friend's car. It's far from perfect, but nothing beats the universal compatibility of an FM transmitter.
On an absolute scale of audio quality, it's a 1 or a 2. Compared to almost any other way of getting audio into your stereo, it's a 1 or a 2. But on universal compatibility, it's a 5. And relative to other FM transmitters, it's probably a 4 or a 5. It works with anything, not just iPods, it has a USB port to pass through charging whatever you're using, and it has a feature to scan for open stations that works moderately well. I can't give it 5 stars overall because it just doesn't sound great, but it sounds about as good as you'll probably get from a unit like this. If you need it, it's a decent choice.

Sony DCC-FMT3 Car FM Stereo Transmitter Review

Sony DCC-FMT3 Car FM Stereo Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I actually picked this up at target, because it was $10 cheaper than the rest of the universals I had seen at Radio Shack and Best Buy. I didn't try it on the one preset (106.7) that is one of the strong radio stations here (it has 6 at the low and 6 at the high and I tried all the lows), but of the ones that I did try, 2 stations are normally decently strong with a little static, and I had no problems with hearing my music when I plugged this in. No static or overlap at all. And no need to adjust the volume.
Edit - after traveling, I found that I did have to have the magnetic antenna very close to my car's antenna, which frustrated me some, since it worked so well while parked. But once I did that, no problems on signals. Would probably lower the star rating to 4 if I could at this point simply for that reason. But I'm not disappointed to have purchased this.

For the money this transmiter is okay if you are listening to music. If you are listening to Podcasts or other spoken recordings it does not work as well. I listen to a lot of sermons and other Christian radio broadcasts downloaded off of Itunes. When listening to a spoken program the there is an iritaing hum or ringing type noise. I am considering buying another transmiter by soundfly from Amazon.
For $10 though this transmiter is not a bad buy especially if you are going to listening primarilly to music.

iriver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter Review

iriver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This little FM modulator actually works well, even in an area with crowded radio spectrum such as San Francisco. Unlike some other modulators by Monster, Belkin, and Griffin, the AFT 100 lets you select ANY frequency, not one of a few factory presets. I simply found an empty frequency on my radio, adjusted the AFT 100 to match, and it sounds great, with no discernable noise or interference. Auto power-off is a nice feature, since I tuck my unit out-of-sight in the armrest.
I use this device with both my iPod Photo and my iRiver IFP-890T. It's convenient and works well. Recommended!
