Mint 130 Wireless Speaker for iPod, MP3 Players, PCs, and Mac (Black) Review

Mint 130 Wireless Speaker for iPod, MP3 Players, PCs, and Mac (Black)
Average Reviews:

The person who wrote about having to sync the speaker to the USB wasn't reading the instructions. You totally don't even have to do that. I just plugged it all in, changed the setting on my computer and voila - wireless sound. I would recommend this to anyone looking to rid themselves of wires attached to their computer. The only bad thing that I can come up with was that the instructions were a little confusing which may be why that one guy kept trying to sync his up by pressing the buttons on each device. I never did that; it was plug and play almost instantly. Works great! Great price.

EOS 100T1RB Wireless Audio System with Universal iPod Docking Base and Remote Speaker (Black) Review

EOS 100T1RB Wireless Audio System with Universal iPod Docking Base and Remote Speaker (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have an older house with walls that fall apart if I start putting holes through them for moving speaker wire around. I have been waiting for worthwhile wireless speakers for some time. While EOS may not be perfect, I have been impressed with the clarity, range, and ease of use.
Pro's:
- Easy to use and very intuitive. I was playing music within 3 minutes of taking it out of the box.
- The wireless speaker worked over 100 feet away on a different floor
- Recharging the iPod Nano Gen 1(which fit just fine) was a nice, convenient feature.
- remote was handy. Ability to add up to 4 speakers is a great option
- several friends have commented on how nice it looks, sounds, and how they wish they had one in their home (we've been using ours in the kitchen)
- no skipping in any of the music; the wireless did not interfere with my 2.4 Ghz phone or wireless modem signals.
Con's:
- no off switch; there are blue lights on the base unit and antenna when it is plugged in as well as the antenna on the wireless speaker when plugged in. Seems like a waste of energy.
- the wireless speaker's volume is not controllable via the remote. Only the base unit is controlled by the remote. You can adjust volume on the top of the wireless speaker
If wireless speakers is what you are after, the EOS is a good option.

Jensen JISS-585 Universal Docking Station for iPod with RF Wireless Speakers (Black) Review

Jensen JISS-585 Universal Docking Station for iPod with RF Wireless Speakers (Black)
Average Reviews:

I got this as a charger and amplifier for my iPhone 3G.
I don't know about the 3GS or 4G.
The speaker set is not explicitly for the iPhone 3G, but for the iTouch and the iPhone 2G.
When you plug in the phone, a message pops up saying it's not compatable. Just cancel and ignore the message.
The device works perfectly. Phone charges and the self-charging wireless speakers can be detached and placed up to 100 feet away (per the package. i use mine about 30 feet away.)
Sound is good, good volume, and the volume can be controlled from the phone, the dock, or by dials on each separate speaker.
The hub and each speaker light up when on, so you can tell their status even not listening.
I would definitely buy this item again, or consider it as a gift.

The speaker sounds great for its size. It is the size of a discman.I use rechargeable batteries, and take it camping. It saves the space of a big boombox and a book of cds.My kitchen must be 20x16 ft. and the sound is enough to make you have to yell over it to hear someone, w/o hearing any major distortion.Pretty good bass for a little speaker as well.Easily paired to my cell phone with 350 plus songs, makes it a good purchase for me.

Altec Lansing M812 Octiv Air Wireless Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black) Review

Altec Lansing M812 Octiv Air Wireless Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When it comes to playing your iTunes music in a room away from the computer, products tend to take two main approaches. The first approach streams music from your computer to speakers of your choice. Apple Airport Express or the Sonos System are an example. The second approach involves docking iPods directly to an integrated set of speakers. The Octiv Air essentially takes the "dock" approach, but provides an aux port, so it also supports the "computer streaming" approach when paired with the above products. Thus, the Octiv Air operates in a very impressive, unique way!
Better yet, instead of the dock being physically attached to the speaker system, the dock is separate and wirelessly streams your iPod or "computer streamer"'s sound to the speaker, which can be placed elsewhere. For me, that feature makes the system brilliant!
My wife likes to listen to her iPod in the kitchen, but the problem with other iPod docking products is that our counter space is too valuable to fit a big speaker. Now, we can set the iPod in a small, out-of-the-way dock on the kitchen counter, but stream the music to the speaker, which sits elsewhere!
Another plus is that the wireless dock supports any sound output from your iPod. This means that in addition to the music on the iPod hard drive, you can also use the Octiv Air for Pandora internet radio and any other music supported by iPod Touch/iPhone applications!
As for the sound quality, it's excellent! It's much crisper than the docking products I've used in the past, and rivals any high-end docking system I've heard.
My only complaints are trivial. First, while the product description says the wall-mounting bracket is "optional", what it SHOULD say is that it's "sold separately". Second, while the system works with iPhone 3G, docking it will result in your iPhone giving you a message saying "this accessory is not designed to work with iPhone". You can just close the warning and everything will work as normal, but be prepared for the annoyance if you want to dock your phone.
All in all, I think Altec Lansing has thrown together a FANTASTIC product, that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you're in the market for a high-end iPod speaker system!

Customized Stereo Sound for Each Room With the Octiv AIR, you have the choice of exactly how your music is delivered. If you want to focus your music in a large entertainment room, you can add a second speaker and choose the system's "left/right" mode, which will separate your sound into two channels, effectively doubling your power.
To truly revolutionize your sound experience, the system gives you the option of adding up to seven additional speakers throughout different rooms in your home, so you will never be away from your music. Powerful, Full-Spectrum Sound The Octiv AIR uses digital amplification to deliver crystal-clear sound up to 80 watts RMS, enough power to fill a large room with sound. The speaker also features unique bass-enhancement technology that creates deep bass without a subwoofer.
Overall sound quality is outstanding, thanks to a two-way design with dual 4-inch speakers and 1-inch tweeters that deliver clean treble and deep bass. The Octiv AIR has a system response from 42 Hz to 22 kHz.
You can easily mount the speaker either on the wall with the optional wall bracket, or place it on a shelf or desktop. The Octiv AIR is so precisely tuned that it uses its surrounding environment to kick up the omni-directional bass frequencies. A switch on the speaker itself allows you to set the ideal bass EQ, optimized no matter where you place the system.

Sony AIR-SA20PK S-AirPlay Digital Wireless Speaker System for iPod (Black) Review

Sony AIR-SA20PK S-AirPlay Digital Wireless Speaker System for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had high hopes for this product --- needed a way to put sound throughout my small house and functionality seemed great (the ability to use different modes in different rooms, ability to use remote with each of the speaker units to control the ipod, etc.) Unfortunately, it did not work as well as hoped.
The base and speakers had a hard time talking to each other, and they were only 50-60 ft apart and in a relatively unobstructed path. Had to move the base closer and align the speaker so that it was in a more direct visual view. Still, with people in the room it would fade in and out. Not sure if this is because I have wireless internet in the house, which the manual says might interfere, but who that would be looking for wireless speakers doesn't have wireless internet??
The sound quality is very good. Not quite as good as my Bose docking station, but I was pleasantly surprised. The other big downside for me with the sound, however, and the last straw that prompted me to return the product, is the volume level. The highest setting is not all that loud. Fine if you are in the same room... but sometimes I would crank up the volume on my Bose docking station and listen to the music in other rooms or outside ... can't really do this with the Sony.

Eos Converge Wireless USB Transmitter for iPod and iPhone Review

Eos Converge Wireless USB Transmitter for iPod and iPhone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Airport express works great with itunes and does a decent job of syncing between multiple rooms, but it's not perfect and it can get out of sync sometimes. Plus, using the itunes remote had limited capabilities, things I was dying for (pandora, last fm, alarms, sleep timer, etc.).
What I had been dreaming about was a sonos, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it, particularly because I needed (wanted) audio in 5 corners of my house - that would've easily run me $1500. Then I read about this device.
First, let me say that the customer service is amazing. I called and asked them about how good the multi room sync was, within hours I got a response - down to 20 milliseconds, not noticeable. If you have to put it in far range, it can get to 60ms, which you may hear. But at that range, I doubt you'd notice the interference because the rooms are so far apart. In my house, the normal setting works fine, I have a townhouse, 3 listening spots upstairs, two downstairs.
Now, what I had really dreamed about though was the sonos control. So this little device allowed me to take the output of a single sonos and transmit it through the whole house! While I don't have control of the music that goes to individual rooms, each room has its own self powered speaker which I can tweak the volume with. Saved me a ton of money and I finally have the perfect dream system. Plus, I was able to take the money I saved and put it towards better speakers in the living room!
---
All that said, my only complaint is the blue lights on all the different units. They can get really bright at night and it makes it a little conspicuous. When I get a chance I'm going to dab a bit of paint on all of them to cover that up.
If they're looking to update these in the future, I'd probably add volume controls to each unit.

Good sound, when it works. If you have any other 2.4Ghz devices in your home, telephones, WiFi, Keyboards, etc. buy something else or live in 2.4Ghz hell. Range is limited to about 50 feet in open air, 20 feet through walls. There is no way to know what channel the device in operating on and power loss results in channel setting loss.
Look for 5.8Ghz devices or save a lot of time and run the wires.

Oregon Scientific IB368 iBall Wireless iPod Speaker with Transmitter Dock Review

Oregon Scientific IB368 iBall Wireless iPod Speaker with Transmitter Dock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would like to give this item 5 stars because the packaging was exquisite and carefully thought out, the item is well designed and very nice to look at, BUT, nowhere in the description that I can find does it say if you want to use this with an iPod Nano that you have to contact the manufacturer for the proper docking adaptor. And that it takes two to three weeks to receive it! This is a fifty cent piece of plastic folks. Oregon Scientific should supply their distributors with the piece and let them add it to the order instead of suprising the consumer like this. Come on! This was a gift and the excitement my daughter felt at receiving it was dampened considerably by her inability to use the thing.I give it four stars because the speaker seems to be well made and the instructions are thorough even though there is only a small tag discretely placed on the outside of the box that says you have to ask for the adaptor to make it work with the Nano. If that had been in the item description I could have requested it when I bought it and saved a week or so of waiting. As it is we have a rather expensive clock that we can't use as a speaker until Oregon Scientific fufills the adaptor request.
1/12/06. I would like to report that Oregon Scientific contacted me and we resolved all issues with this order. They were extremely helpful , gave a clear and concise explanation of the issue with the Nano adaptor and satisfied me completely. It is a pleasure to deal with a company that is so concerned with their customers. My complements to them and their customer service crew.
Now to the product. The system works flawlessly, there were no glitches or difficulty in setting it up and the sound is fabulous. It is the equal of my Bose Wave radio in my opinion. The smile on my daughter's face as she carried the ball around listening to her stored music was worth the wait. I can recommend this product with no reservations. I am upgrading my rating to 5 stars and ordering a catalog from Oregon Scientific today.

Unleash the full potential of your iPod with the iBall wireless speaker system. Consisting of a portable wireless speaker and transmitter dock combo, the iBall plays your favorite iPod tracks from a distance of up to 100 feet without losing a hint of fidelity. Simply plug the iPod into the transmitter dock, which employs advanced 2.4 GHz frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology to wirelessly send crystal-clear digital audio to the speaker. The audio is smooth and powerful thanks to the high-quality electronics and the system's three-speaker array and ported bass cavity. Plus, the iBall's built-in remote control lets you control the iPod's basic playback functions directly from the speaker, so you don't need to trudge across the house to increase the volume or skip tracks.
The multifunctional transmitter dock also acts as a docking, charging, and synchronization station. In other words, you don't need to disconnect the iPod from the iBall transmitter to recharge the batteries or transfer music from your iTunes-equipped Mac or PC, as the dock takes care of both functions. Just connect the dock to your computer's USB or FireWire ports and you're set. On the other end, the iBall speaker is completely cable-free, so you can locate it almost anywhere in the home--even on the back patio or in the garage--without worrying about a messy, cumbersome setup.
Listeners will also appreciate the iBall's adjustable bass and treble controls, along with the easy-to-read LCD display that illuminates the time, volume, bass and treble levels, wireless signal strength, input selection, battery power, and play/pause status. Finally, the iBall includes both an auxiliary line-in mini-plug for connecting an additional audio source, such as a portable CD or MP3 player, and S-video and A/V stereo line-out mini-plugs. The latter jacks let you listen to or view iPod files through other A/V components, such as a home stereo system or TV, without buying an adapter. Additional features include a real-time clock and a wall bracket for the speaker.
The iBall speaker, which measures 8 by 7.4 by 7.7 inches (W x H x D), runs for six to eight hours on the included rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged while still in the speaker. The transmitter dock, meanwhile, checks in at 4.3 by 4.2 by 2.3 inches. The iBall's seven docking tray adapters are compatible with the iPod shuffle (512 MB and 1 GB models), iPod mini (4 GB and 6 GB models), iPod with click wheel (20 GB and 40 GB models), iPod with dock connector (10 GB, 15 GB, 20 GB, 30 GB, and 40 GB models), iPod with color display (20 GB, 30 GB, 40 GB, and 60 GB models), and iPod nano. Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System for iPod Review

Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Griffin Evolve Wireless Sound System for iPod
With their Evolve Wireless Sound System, Griffin has produced a wonderful product that improves upon their previous iPod dock versions, namely the Amplifi. This iPod dock provides wireless satellite speakers that can be moved around your home independently within a very wide range. The integrated black and grey design is sleek and streamlined. The unit is still not as "portable" as some pure docks might be, but the base and satellite speaker design provides better sound and more connection options. This is what Griffin fans have come to expect, very good sound and all-around design.
Pros
+ Nice performing speakers with a great wireless range
+ Compatible with ALL new iPod versions, including the iPod touch with no issues!!!
+ Li-ion batteries are listed as providing 10 hours of charge, but seem to perform longer
+ Very respectable power and sound output
+ Sleek design with a slim base and square satellite speakers is attractive and functional
+ Two satellite speakers each include on/off switches and sleep modes for improved battery life
+ Built-in amplification in the charging base provides nice sound clarity
+ RF remote provides good wireless range
+ Great output connectors including S-Video, composite video and RCA for a wide range of connections
+ RCA audio connectors and auxiliary audio inputs for connecting additional devices
+ Simple instructions and plug and play performance for most users
+ 1-year limited hardware warranty
Cons
- Base still needs power connection in order to function, preventing pure mobile use
- The system is somewhat light and feels less durable than what one would ideally like
- Somewhat underwhelming remote control could have used more controls
- Not to be greedy, but a real subwoofer would have really put this over the top for me
- As with any wireless speaker system, there is a possibility it may cause interference with older home electronics
While the Griffin Evolve's sound doesn't reach the very highest end of the sound quality spectrum, the wide range of connectors allow you to integrate additional speaker and receiver options. These certainly still sound great, comparable to the Amplifi. Griffin Technology 1200-ITSPKR Amplifi Home Music System for iPod They are designed for well tuned all-around sound with a steady range and great mid-range and high range sounds. The sound they provide is perhaps second to the Harmon Kardon dock Harman Kardon - Portable Speakers and Docking Station for iPod, but what they provide in features will more than make up for that in this target market.
Operation is a snap. The main complaints one can have, which are minor, come from the very minimal design which is a Griffin trademark. In the case of the remote, the design could have been enhanced with more features. Also, the cases shape is nice but provides little to keep the speakers in place apart from the charging points they rest on. Only time will tell how durable this system is.
One thing that Griffin has accomplished is full compatibility with all iPods, including the iPod Touch. Apple iPod touch 32 GB With so many docks having bugs and compatibility issues, Griffin truly nailed this.
The price is high, but still provides a great value when you consider everything that's included with the system. The connectors alone are an improvement over many iPod docs on the market. Overall, this is a great set. Give the Evolve a try and see for yourself.
Enjoy!!!

The Evolve speaker system comprises a charging base and two cube-shaped speakers. Talk about stereo separation--simply place the Evolve cubes wherever you want to hear the music. You can even move them into the next room with you. There are no entangling wires to hassle with.

Each speaker cube has its own long-lived Lithium-Ion battery pack, delivering up to 10 hours of music between charges. Evolve even charges wirelessly: to charge the batteries, just place the speaker on its charging station. There's nothing to plug in, and nothing to unplug when you're ready to deploy the music. Each speaker features its own on/off switch as well as an automatic sleep mode to conserve battery charge.
Evolve's speaker enclosures are engineered for expansive sound from a compact footprint. In other words, the sound from these speakers will knock your socks off. Inside, Outside, Upstairs, or Down Party on the patio, or crank it in the kitchen. Evolve's rechargeable wireless speakers play your music where you put them, anywhere within 150 feet of the Base Unit.
Play your music in stereo with both speakers wherever you are, or switch Evolve to Mono hear both channels on one speaker so you can use them in different rooms.
Without wires to tie you down, musical freedom is yours.
Command in Your Hand Keep your seat. Evolve's powerful remote controls your Evolve unit and your iPod from 150 feet away through walls and windows. Makes skipping those songs from your "Guilty Pleasures" playlist much easier when they start playing in the middle of the party.
Plays Well with Others Combining simplicity with great sound, Evolve just might be the perfect stand-alone sound system for iPod. But don't let the simplicity fool you. Griffin has included all the connections you need to integrate your Evolve with your existing home entertainment system. I really struggled with deciding on the "right" iPhone dock for me. I considered the Bose SoundDock II and the SoundDock 10 and yes, they have outstanding sound quality but I just wasn't ready to fork over $300 and $600 respectively. I also considered the Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin and didn't purchase for the same reason. With that being said, I continued to search and happened upon the "Sony Air" concept at Best Buy. I plugged in my iPhone and loved the sound. Since this unit has a separate wireless sub-woofer, you get the benefit of a full sound experience! The highs are very crisp and the bass provides the missing link that completes the experience. The sound quality is amazing and when compared to the SoundDock II, the Sony wins without question.
Another advantage over the Bose is the fact that you can expand this system by purchasing additional wireless speakers(up to 8) for other rooms in your home. This is a feature that's not available from the Bose offerings.
Overall, for about 1/2 the price of the entry level Bose (SoundDock II), Sony offers an outstanding package that delivers a very satisfying sound experience. Highly recommended!
Good luck with your purchase!
BTW, for those of you who have the iPhone 4, you don't have to remove your bumper to dock your phone!
