Audiovox CNP2000H XM Radio Mini Tuner Home Dock with Antenna Review

Audiovox CNP2000H XM Radio Mini Tuner Home Dock with Antenna
Average Reviews:

Purchased this product in conjunction with a Samsung Nexus 50. It allows me to take the small tuner module to record on the Nexus or to work on this dock with my XM-ready Yamaha home theater receiver. Turns out I didn't even need to mount the antenna in a window or outside facing South. It works with a decent signal level located inside a cabinet on the south wall of my house, picking up sufficient signal levels through the cabinet and the outside wall of my house!!! I just used the tuner display of signal strength and moved it around till I found a good signal, avoiding the need to buy an extention cable, drilling a hole through the wall and mounting it outside.

Tao xm2go Portable Satellite Radio Receiver with Home and Car Accessory Kits Review

Tao xm2go Portable Satellite Radio Receiver with Home and Car Accessory Kits
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been having a great deal of fun with the Tao xm2go. I even look forward to the daily jog! No more horrible music from broadcast stations. No more listening to my limited library of music. Now I have the largest variety of music, news, and information that one could ever hope for. Reception is great (apparently I'm near a repeater). The unit is a little larger than a pack of smokes. Easy to carry. Don't like the earbuds.....but they do have an inline volume switch. Any other standard headphones will fit it so I'll probably use some others. Nice to have a large disply. The buttons are easy to understand. Each button nicely lights up and is easy to read in the dark. Designed very well. An amazing array of accessories (most any other company would nickle and dime you to death for these). EXCELLENT gift for joggers, bikers, fishermen, gardeners, beach-goers, etc.

XM satellite radio wherever you go, even when you're on foot -- that's what you get with the Tao TXM1020 xm2go Portable Satellite Radio Receiver. This belt-friendly, compact unit comes with everything, yes everything, you need to enjoy incredible XM content in your car, at home, or on your favorite jogging path. Add in powerful features like program recording, artist and song alerts, and a built-in FM modulator, and you've got a must-have gadget that opens up a whole new world of listening pleasure.
Design At just under three inches wide and 4.5 inches high, the TXM1020's palm-friendly size makes it great for use as a belt-mounted radio. The backlit LCD display is large enough to display the wealth of information that comes with XM radio service: Song and program titles, artist name, a playback progress bar, a clock, channel information and signal strength cover the basics. Meanwhile, the screen can also display additional information like a stock ticker and sports scores. The device's user interface offers a circular control button that controls volume and playback, while a numeric keypad lets you input stations directly. The charging and cradle interface is on the bottom of the unit. The headphone jack, antenna jack and tuning control dial are placed on the sides of the unit. There's also a wireless remote that ships with the TXM1020 that duplicates much of the controls on the unit.
Features The TXM1020's channel preset function makes it easy to quickly navigate to your favorite channels. The 30 channel preset memory, divided into three 10-channel groups, allows you to organize your favorites any way you want. Meanwhile, the channel preview function lets you use the tuning control dial to preview content playing on other channels without having to tune away from your current channel. And if you're the type who can never remember the name of that song you liked, you can save the artist and title of up to 20 songs for future reference. You can even program the TXM1020 to alert you when an artist or song is playing on another channel. To top it all off, the TXM1020 features built-in memory that can record up to five hours of XM programming. Set the TXM1020 to record what's currently playing, or schedule up to two recording sessions. These recording features are great if you often travel in areas where XM reception is spotty.
In the Car, at Home, on the Go The best feature of the TXM1020 is its astonishing flexibility, thanks to a long list of included accessories. When you're out and about on foot, you can use the TXM1020's built-in satellite antenna to tune into XM programming. A rechargeable battery offers five hours of battery life and, as mentioned, the TXM1020 ships with earbuds for private listening. An included belt clip also cleverly doubles as a table stand.
The TXM1020 has you covered when you're on the road, too. The unit ships with a vehicle docking station that provides all the necessary connections to your car audio system, as well as a magnetic roof- or hood-mount antenna, and three mounting brackets (a flat surface mount, a vent mount, and a swivel mount). Power is supplied by a 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter, and you can choose to route audio to your stereo via a direct mini-jack to RCA connection (yes, the cable is provided!), an included cassette player adapter, or via the TXM1020's built-in FM frequency transmitter, which allows you to tune into the TXM1020's signal via your car's FM tuner.
And when you're at home with the TXM1020 you can simply plug the unit into your home stereo via the mini-jack to RCA connection that's provided on the included home docking station. If you like, you could also use the FM transmitter. Power is provided by the included home AC adapter, and the home antenna (yep, included!) has a hinged base for optimal positioning. The antenna can also be mounted to any vertical surface or an exterior wall.

Delphi SA10002 XM SKYFi Vehicle Kit Review

Delphi SA10002 XM SKYFi Vehicle Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I *love* my SkiFi (I have the home adapter too). The car unit takes a little installation effort (about an hour in my case), and does not switch too easily from car to car. However, once installed, it worked great! The trickiest part of the installation requires running two thin wires to the outside of the car, where a little antenna about the size of a computer mouse will stick to your roof with a very strong magnet. I was able to simply snap off the door molding in my van to hide the wires and then snap the molding back; no real big whoop.
Next, you stick the enclosed mounting swivel device to your dashboard with special glue they supply. Power the thing up by plugging it into your car's lighter jack. Finally, use the cassette adaptor to run the sound through your car stereo.
The cassette adaptor requires that you have a tape player in your car stereo. If you don't, you'll probably have to get an RF modulator to pump the sound through your FM radio. SkiFi is supposed to be offering an RF Modulator type kit soon. Other companies do make them though. In my case, my car stereo has an AUX input that allowed me to plug the device in with a simple wire.
HINT: You may get some 'whining' interference. If so, a device called a 'ground loop isolator' from Radio Shack fixed that problem nicely.
Once you get used to XM, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.
I'm very happy with this unit, and I think GM unit Delphi has a hit on their hands. I'm looking forward to seeing more and more XM radio users as they begin to appear in new automobiles.

You should mount the antenna on the roof of your car or truck. The 12V power adapter plugs into your cigarette lighter and powers SKYFi through the vehicle cradle. The cassette adapter, meanwhile, lets you listen to XM right through your car stereo's cassette deck. (The SKYFi FM modulator, model SA10030, is available for vehicles without a cassette player.)

Terk SR1 Glass-mount XM Satellite Radio Antenna Review

Terk SR1 Glass-mount XM Satellite Radio Antenna
Average Reviews:

Great product. I have one in my '01 Pathfinder, mounted on the rear left glass. Although it is bigger than you think it is from the picture, it doesn't have an ugly appearance like the "dog tick" antennas. It comes with a simple mounting template and you just peel & stick. No problem with the adhesive.
Just be careful you mount it on flat surface. My installer mounted mine on a curved surface, and after several months water leaked in and ruined it. Terk replaced it free. I put the replacement in the same position, but ran a small bead of silicon around it to keep it dry.
Highly recommended for auto XM installations.

TERK introduces a glassmounted automotive antenna for XM satellite radio. The XM-approved TRK-SR1X features TERK's exclusive ThruGlass technology, which passes DC power, along with the RF signals, through the glass surface. The interior coupler is then hard-wired to the receiver using 16 feet of XMapproved low loss micro coaxial cable, which is pre-terminated with color coded, FAKRA type SMB connectors. The antenna is installed with a special adhesive that is extremely durable yet removable. The TRK-SR1X does not use any permanent mounting techniques, nor does it require any drilling. It also features a fully adjustable hinged mast that can be easily set to the optimum recommended angle for any window, or simply folded down to avoid damage at a car wash or other low-clearance situations. The TRK-SR1X is easy to install on most vehicles. TERK's glass mount satellite radio antenna features dual-mode functionality, receiving simultaneous signals from satellites and terrestrial repeaters to ensure continuous reception. The result is an antenna that offers all the benefits of satellite radio and complements any vehicle.

Delphi XM Roady XT Satellite Radio Receiver Review

Delphi XM Roady XT Satellite Radio Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Roady XT has made some major improvements over the Roady2. First and foremost, artist names and song titles will now scroll if they are longer than 16 characters. Each will scroll twice at the beginning of a song. If you need the complete name/title further into the piece, the best way to trigger the scroll again is to to hit the "display" button five times. This takes you back to the same display mode you were using, and it will begin to scroll again within a few seconds.
The sports ticker is great also. I was able to set it up for every NFL team, so there doesn't appear to be any limit on its size. It's not instantaneous, however; it takes about 2-3 minutes for an actual change in the score to be reflected in the ticker.
There is also a "Jump" button which allows you to flip to the previous channel.
The "Tuneselect" feature now allows you to search for songs not only by the song title, but by the artist name as well. This is accessed through the menu screen. You do, however, have to pick one or the other.
Another big plus: The Roady XT now gives you access to virtually the entire FM spectrum (88.1-107.9) if you want to listen via the FM modulator. The "Jump" button also comes into play here as well. If you hold it in for a few seconds, it will bring up a screen showing the last 6 FM frequencies you used. You can then use the arrow buttons to go to the one you want, then hit "Select." And by setting your in-dash radio's presets to the corresponding FM frequencies, it makes it much easier to adjust the modulator if you start running into interference as you drive.
Tip: The XM antenna also serves as the FM transmitter. If possible, place it close to your regular car antenna.

The smallest and lightest XM satellite radio on the market, the Delphi XM Roady XT comes with everything you need to enjoy more than 150 commercial-free satellite channels in your car while you're driving across town or across the country. The plug-and-play Roady XT is easy to install, with no wires or cables required. Simply dock it on your dash, whereit uses its built-in FM transmitter to wirelessly transmit the signal to an empty frequency on your FM dial. The device supports more than 100 frequencies, so even users in the busiest radio markets should be able to find several static-free channels.Once installed, listeners will have access to the full XM menu of music, sports, talk, news, children's, and entertainment programming, all without having to listen to a single commercial. The Roady XT also offers 21 advanced traffic and weather channels--yet another reason XM was named best radio service at the 2004 Billboard Digital Entertainment Awards.
To make the listening experience more informative, the Roady XT displays the channel name, artist name, and song title for each XM channel on the bright, high-contrast screen, which boasts seven vivid backlighting colors. Complementing the track info is the TuneSelect feature, which alerts listeners when their favorite songs and artists are playing on a specific channel. Meanwhile, sports and finance fans will delight in the customizable sports and stock tickers; the former runs through the latest scores and schedules for both college and the pros, while the latter keeps track of up to 20 stocks at once.
All the features come bundled in a sleek, innovative housing that's designed to ensure high sound quality while taking up a minimum of space. The diminutive size (it measures a mere 3.7 by 2.2 by 0.61 inches) fits easily in most jacket pockets or purses. This not only helps protect against theft, but also makes it convenient to bring the Roady XT inside for home use (requires the Roady XT home kit).
So don't waste another moment listening to cliché-ridden commercial radio--join the XM revolution today with the Roady XT.

Altec Lansing IMX2 Laptop Portable Audio Review

Altec Lansing IMX2 Laptop Portable Audio
Average Reviews:

I only rate this as a 3 star purchase because you cannot tell until you get it out of the box that for home/inside use you must use an antenna adapter -- that plugs into the side of the XM2GO.
So unlike the factory supplied docking cradle -- you cannot just plug the XM2GO in and listen. It requires an (unsightly) extension cord to hook up the antenna.
Once attached the sound is ok - though for the price I really think I'd consider playing the XM2GO through a stereo rather than purchasing this device.

XMDirect XMD1000 Satellite Radio Universal Tuner Box Review

XMDirect XMD1000 Satellite Radio Universal Tuner Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Seems there are several people who are having problems related to either their install, or their head units and NOT the tuner itself. The XMD1000 works exactly like its supposed to. I use it with a Pioneer CD head unit and i get 3 banks of XM channels (XM1, XM2, XM3) and i can see artist, song title, channel name and number, etc. displayed on my head unit screen. I've owned my XMD1000 for almost 3 years in 2 different cars and it never once lost channel programming. If your XMD1000 tuner takes up the Auxillary port or somehow miraculously interferes with AM AND FM, then you should get a different head unit as this is not any problem with the XM tuner. My Pioneer head unit has a specific connection for the XM tuner and it's not possible for XM to interfere with AM or FM in any way at all.
This tuner was very easy to self-install, works perfectly and has no major problems.

Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability Review

Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Satellite Radio with MP3 Capability
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had XM for four years, and this is the third type of unit I've had, and it is, by far, the best. I owned the portable Delphi unit, which worked fine. I bought this Inno for a friend, and when I saw it, I fell in love and bought one myself.
Why I love it:
Size: It is small, and sleek. It comes with a little leather case to protect it (bravo to Pioneer for not making me spend another $30 on an after-market case!) on the go.
Reception: It has an internal antenna - that little stub on the top of it in the picture is the antenna. Unlike the old Delphi, no need for an external wire clipped to clothing for reception; the reception is GREAT and smooth.
Battery: I haven't gone out all day yet, but after three hours yesterday, the battery was still over half charged. The battery indicator is clear as well. BTW, the unit comes with a slight charge, so you can "play" with it right away; no maddening "please wait 8 hours before first use."
Recording: Easy to quickly record a station, a single song, and even schedule a recording in the future. This is good for the talk radio channels.
Menu: Easy to flip through and select menus. The display screen is a great improvement; it isn't just color because it's cool; it's designed to make navigation easier.
Power: No need to lug cradle on trips. It comes with an additional more compact charger for travel. Thanks!
Why someone might complain:
Earphones: I've read reviews complaining about the earbuds. Yes, they are cheap, but so what? I've got so many other ones scattered about, it isn't really an issue. I use my ipod buds, my Bose headset, whatever. Who cares about the little earbuds? It's just something so the package is complete, and you can listen right away.
FM Modulator: Not internal to the unit, but must be purchased with the car or other kit. But then again, there are so many of those on the market, I appreciate that they didn't eat up size/functions with the modulator that is easily added on elsewhere. This is a PORTABLE unit. I don't really need a modulator when I'm out walking around...
Memory: Again, I've heard complaints about the storage size for books and recordings. I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been a slot for a card, but I'm okay with that. I've got an ipod; I'll leave my books on there. I'll use this radio as a RADIO.
OVERALL it's great. Reception is good and consistent, screen easy to navigate, solid battery charge, and the accessories in the box are great - no need to buy aftermarket anything.

Samsung YA-CP100 Helix Car Kit Review

Samsung YA-CP100 Helix Car Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this item for our XM portable. It held up fine for about 6 months.
PROS: The antenna did function nominally (all the time and in any direction) when placed at the apex of the base of the front windshield.
CONS: Mounting clips: The flimsy plastic clips that should hold it on the air vent grid, broke after inserting the item about 8 times. (yes, I did it gently because I didn't want to break it.
Mounting Bracket: The second choice (after the clips broke) was to use the mounting oval to hard mount the device. This was mounted in a F150 but never taken off road and after 3 months, the unit would no longer interface with the cradle because the mounts plug had worn down so much it would not stay in contact.
I would not buy this again because the weight of the radio is way too heavy for any of the brackets of mounting devices.

Belkin F5X007 XM Audio System Review

Belkin F5X007 XM Audio System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the best sounding Boombox that has come out for Sirius or XM. I had this delivered to my work and five people have complement this unit on its looks and quality of sound.
As the reviewer stated below this looks much better sitting in front of you than in pictures. I like all the storage offered, you can hide the remote in the battery compartment, along with the lead for the built in antenna. The front volume and earphone jacks are rubber seals...good stuff, goes alone with the waterproof claim. The built in antenna is also rubber sealed around the base.
The sound output is very good, it has good bass with no distortion, it also has two tweeters that deliver nice highs. I have not had the hiss at low volume some other reviewers experienced, it sounds good with the volume set at 2 or 15.
Yeah it doesn't have a CD player, or even a FM, radio built in but that is not the reason I bought it. I have had XM for 9 months and not listened to regular radio once in 9 months, and maybe only 3 CD's in that time. So...I dont care about these omissions, if I wanted these functions I would have bought a regular Boombox. I have yet not been able to get a signal, and I work in a 100 year old building surrounded by brick and concrete. As a matter of fact the home antenna supplied points at a wall and I get three bars on the XT's signal meter
The remote is basic and missing some of the functions of the Delphi remote, but that is a small trade-off. Over all this is a well built Boombox, sounds better than any of the other satellite boxes out there. So in the end if you have XM you will not be disappointed if you make the purchase.

Audiovox SIRCK1 Sirius Satellite Radio Car Dock with Built-In Wireless FM Transmitter Review

Audiovox SIRCK1 Sirius Satellite Radio Car Dock with Built-In Wireless FM Transmitter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would highly advice that if you choose to get Satellite Radio, you should get it professional installed. I'm experimenting, so I went with the cheaper option. It works pretty well.
You should note that you'll have a few wires sticking out everywhere, and it will look kind of cheap, but if you can get over that, it works well. It has a cradle, a mounting bracket that can stick to the dash, and a mini FM transmitter so you can listen to Sirius through your radio. The whole system works quite well and does the job as best as it can. It's easy to and simple to setup, so that should not be a problem. The sound quality is a little weak, but it does the job.
Besides looking kind of cheap, which is not the docking kits fault, there are two main problems. One is that the mount uses screws or adhesive. I'm not going to drill randomly into my car, so I used the adhesive. The adhesive works very well, but I worry that if I ever remove the mount, will it take chunks of my dash with it? I don't know, which would be really scary if I deeply cared for my car. The second problem is that there is no power supply for a wall socket. This means that if you don't fork over another fifty dollars, you'll have to do the setup in your car, while the car is running. This is truly cheap and annoying.
All in all, it works well for those on a budget or those not willing to commit fully to Sirius radio.

The base has a swivel ball for adjustment of the dock, and it can be mounted to your dash using the included adhesive strip or included screws. The antenna has a magnetic base that enables you to mount it on your car's roof or trunk; it connects to the docking cradle with a 20-foot antenna cable.

Audiovox XMCK-10A XM Xpress Satellite Radio Car Kit Review

Audiovox XMCK-10A XM Xpress Satellite Radio Car Kit
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Right from the moment I plugged the unit into the cigarette lighter of the car (parked inside the garage with the doors shut) I was impressed the reception. I upgraded from the original Roady and was taken back with the excellent performance of this unit. I regularly make a trip from Chicago to Indianapolis, and with the old Roady I experienced several dead sites out in the country. With the new unit, no dead sites what-so-ever!!. (Not to say they don't exist)
PROS::::
* Awesome Satellite Reception
* Ability to Aim Antenna when hooked to home docking station
* FM Transmitter Performance is much increased over the original FM transmitters. (The old FM transmitters lacked fidelity.) The sound with this FM transmitter is strong, bass is deep and the highs are clear and crisp.
o This transmitter transmits through the external satellite antenna outside the car (as opposed to through the cigarette lighter adapter)
o Strong enough to block out fairly strong nearby FM stations.
o Can set the frequency to anything between 88.1 and 107.9
 Set the frequency by changing the dial
* The docking station has an auxiliary input and output. Imagine all of the useful things you can plug in there, like mp3 players or portable TVs /DVD/ Computer audio
* The Display is CRISP, CLEAR, and Easy to read day or night. The default is white background with black lettering. It is very easy to read, day or night.
* Has a dial for channel and option selection
* Size and weight are about half the size of that of the original Roady.
* Comes with everything you could need to hook it up in a car.
* The easy dock makes it easy to switch between car and house, just unplug it and go.
CONS:::::
* The only real con is that the buttons are hard to see at night. (Although after you initially get it setup, you shouldn't have to mess around with the buttons to much. The menu button is right in the middle. After you initially get set up that will probably be the only button you use. Lets face it, if you had the old Roady, then after a while you managed to work that thing in the dark with ease.
OVERALL:::::::
I highly recommend this product. I picked one up for $49 after rebates and the FM transmitter alone that comes with it is worth every bit of $49. Previously I had paid $40 for a Belkin TuneCast..........and couldn't transmit a signal across the room yet alone from inside the garage with the door shut.
The has performed well for me so far and has far exceeded my expectations at every turn
Take a look at the manual(see link below) to get an idea of how clear the screen is. (Although the manual does not do the unit justice)

Altec Lansing XM3020 Docking/Speaker System for the MyFi, AirWare, Tao Review

Altec Lansing XM3020 Docking/Speaker System for the MyFi, AirWare, Tao
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this product mainly because I enjoy working out in the garden or kicking back out on the patio, and want to listen to XM out there. Previously I was using a radio and having my Delphi XM2GO broadcast over FM. For me, these speakers offer a very nice solution. The speakers actually come with new dock, a new AC converter, and a new antenna, so you can keep your other set, set up somewhere else. When using this setup, it has the advantage of also keeping your unit charged.
The sound is decent, but I won't over hype it. You get the sort of sound quality that you might expect from a nice radio of about the same size. Same with the power of it. Don't expect to be breaking any glass by turning this thing up to ear-drum splitting levels. It aint gonna happen. If you want more of a hi-fi experience, definitely use the audio cables and plug it into a home stereo system.
The one big drawback to the system, like someone else mentioned, is that you can't power the darn speakers via battery. Which means that its a whole lot less mobile then it could be.
