iHome iH27 Portable Alarm Clock for iPod (Black) Review

iHome iH27 Portable Alarm Clock for iPod (Black)

I can't imagine what they were thinking when they designed this thing.
Here's the problem. If you have an ipod in the unit you cannot wake up to the buzzer, only the ipod. If you go to sleep with the ipod on, playing some mellow music at low volume, this is what you will hear for your morning alarm. It's not going to wake you. You cannot use the buzzer for an alarm unless you take the ipod out. What's the point of having it?
Mine is going back.

Perfect for the busy traveler, this portable iPod alarm clock speaker system lets you sleep or wake to your favorite iPod tunes or buzzer, or just enjoy a little music while your iPod charges. With a lock feature to maintain settings, battery or AC power, and a protective carrying case, it lets you take some room-filling sound nearly anywhere.

Charge and Play Your iPod Anywhere Play back your favorite tunes at home or while traveling with the iH27. While your iPod is docked, it receives a charge (when on AC power), so when you're ready to go, so is your iPod.

The iH27 power adapter is able to handle input voltage from 100 to 240 VA, so it'll work overseas with the right plug adapters. And because the iH27 is powered by either AC or four AA batteries (not included), you can enjoy music with or without an outlet. A handy carrying case is also included to keep the device safe and sound while in transit, whether it's a business trip or a barbecue.

Sleep or Wake to Your iPod The iH27 lets you wake to your docked iPod (or the buzzer alarm for you masochists). A gradual alarm feature gently raises the alarm volume, so as not to jar you out of sleep. You can also dim the display, with high, medium, low, and off settings.

The iH27 also has a sure alarm feature so the buzzer alarm will still sound in the event of power failure, if backup battery is installed.

And of course, there's a snooze button for grabbing a few more minutes of slumber and a sleep mode for falling asleep to your favorite tunes or podcasts.

Big Sound in a Small Package iHome's Reson8 technology, with through-body ported speaker chambers, gives the iH27's four speakers better response characteristics for superior stereo sound. In addition, SRS WOW technology is designed to provide a broader audio image with enhanced low-range and mid-range sound reproduction, in order to bring added life to compressed MP3 files.

Auxiliary Input and A/V Output Use the iH27's auxiliary input to connect external devices such as MP3 or CD players. You can also send the audio and/or video from the dock's A/V out to a television or stereo, for enjoying your iPod content on a larger scale.

What's in the Box iH27 main unit, AC adapter, iPod dock inserts, auxiliary cable, and user's manual.

iHome iH4 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Pink) Review

iHome iH4 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Pink)
Average Reviews:

I bought this for my wife and haven't played with it too much but will pass on her comments. The unit is small and easy to use. Overall pleased with only two comments.
The volume is incremental and only adjusts from the unit itself and ignores any changes made on the iPod. The problem with this is that if you want to fall asleep to some 'gentle and soothing' sounds/music the difference between no sound and the first step is too pronounced.
The only other item to note is that the dimmer also has steps and if you like your room very dark at night the lowest setting visible is just a bit too bright. However, you can completely turn the light off which is nice and all you have to do is hit a button to turn it on -- then step thru all the settings to turn it off...but that's not too bad.

iHome iP87 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Presets and Dock for iPhone and iPod with Remote (Black) Review

iHome iP87 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with AM/FM Presets and Dock for iPhone and iPod with Remote (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a mostly very well thought out clock radio. I list below my LIKES and DISLIKES, so that you can more easily determine if this would be a good purchase for you:
LIKES:
* It charges your Ipod
* The alarm can be set to wake you up to your Ipod music (you create a Playlist on your Ipod called "iHome" with whatever song(s) you want; then when setting the alarm, you choose the option to wake to playlist)
* The alarm is a gradual alarm. Whether you choose to wake to a buzzer, iPod, radio, etc., the sound of the alarm starts gradually, before it comes on too loud. This is a nicer way to wake up, I think
* The digital display is very bright on its brightest setting. This can be useful as a nightlight in your room. However, if the radio is close to your bed, the brightness can easily be adjusted lower by pressing the "snooze" button until you find your desired brightness
* The sound quality is fine. Obviously, it cannot match full-size speakers, and for the price, it is not going to be quite as solid as similar sized radios which cost twice as much (or more). But, for this attractive price, the sound quality is fine, acceptable, etc.!
* It can be programmed to only way on the 5 weekdays, 2 weekend days or all 7 days. Although, as noted below, this may not be working correctly, or maybe I am missing a setting
* The price is very competitive for the features you receive on this radio
DISLIKES:
* Setting the alarm requires spinning a wheel-like dial. If you set different times regularly, and especially if those different times are far apart from each other, spinning the dial can be troublesome.
* Even though you are supposed to be able to set it for "5 days" (meaning it should only wake you M-F), I cannot seem to make that work properly. So, I work around this by telling it to wake me all 7 days, and on the weekends when my wake up schedule is different, I simply change the wake up time.
SUMMARY:
The LIKES greatly outweight the DISLIKES. This is a great iPod clock radio.

iHome iP9 Speaker Dock with Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone (Silver) Review

iHome iP9 Speaker Dock with Clock Radio for iPod and iPhone (Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have searched hard to find the "perfect" iPod alarm clock. For me, the iHome iP9 comes closer than anything else I found, but it does have some very annoying flaws.
In my opinion, the best features are:
* The alarm can be set to wake to a random song on an "iHome" playlist on your iPod. Only Sanyo seems to have a product with a similar feature, but I think theirs looks REALLY ugly.
* The backlight dimmer has 7 levels of brightness and can even be turned off.
* You can adjust the snooze time from 1 to 29 minutes in 1-minute increments.
* The alarm volume (for radio and iPod) gradually increases for "gentle" waking.
* The sound quality is quite good for such a small unit.
The things that annoy me about the unit are:
* The alarm set buttons are located directly behind the snooze bar, and hitting one of these buttons resets the alarm when the alarm is sounding. While the snooze bar is very big and has a bump that you can feel with your fingers, I fear that I will accidentally turn off my alarm one morning when just trying to snooze for a few more minutes.
* There is a beep when setting the alarm. While this offers audio confirmation of your alarm setting actions, it can be annoying if you are trying to set the alarm when your significant other is sleeping.
* The dial controls are cool in theory/aesthetic but are not so great in practice. It can be more time-consuming to use these to set the alarm time and other settings when compared to conventional buttons and a system where one sets the hour and minute independently. Also, the dials are mechanical (unlike an iPod) and lack an indent or other means for providing traction. So, your finger can slip, making them not so easy to turn. For this, I found a simple work-around: I stuck on each dial a small, round, self-adhesive, clear plastic bumper (something you can find in any hardware store). This makes it much easier to turn the dials, but it does not get around the fact that dials are not always the best interface.
* Personally, I find only the dimmest and off settings for the backlight to be of any use. Perhaps, the other backlight settings would be needed if the unit is placed in direct sunlight. However, I find them too bright, and it is very slightly annoying that I need to press the dimmer button to cycle through the 6 other "on" settings each time I turn the backlight off. While definitely better than some competing units whose backlight is always way too bright (e.g. the Sony ICF-CD3iP), even the dimmest setting can be rather bright in a totally dark room.
For me, the positive outweighs the negative when evaluating this unit as an iPod alarm clock. While not my primary usage (and paling in comparison to a dedicated home stereo), I found the sound on this unit to be surprisingly good when using the unit as an iPod speaker system for casual listening in a small room.

The iP9 is an innovative clock radio for iPhone and iPod designed to shield annoying iPhone/mobile phone GSM noise. This way, the airplane mode is not required, and you'll never miss a call again when your iPhone is docked. The iP9 has several unique features, including a remote control, AM/FM presets, EQ controls, and even 3D sound for an enhanced audio experience. The iP9 also allows you to wake to your custom iPod playlist at different times on different days, with iHome's 7-5-2 feature and programmable snooze settings. You'll also enjoy great sound around the clock with their Reson8 stereo speaker chambers.

iPod, iPhone, Radio, or Buzzer Alarm Wake to your docked iPod, the radio, or--if you must--a classic buzzer alarm. Whichever you choose, a gradual alarm feature gently raises the alarm volume, so it's not too jarring. Dual alarm lets you set separate wake times.

You can set separate wake times for weekdays and weekends, and you can wake to the playlist or song of your choice.

Programmable Snooze The iP9's programmable snooze feature allows you to set snooze intervals of 1 to 29 minutes, so you can milk every last second of sleep before you're late for work.

Sleep Features Drift off to your iPod, iPhone, or radio, with programmable sleep times of 120, 90, 60, 30, or 15 minutes. Gentle Sleep gradually decreases the music volume as you drift off to dreamland.

What's more, an Adjustable Sleep volume solves an age-old alarm clock problem, allowing you to select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the "wake to" or listening volume levels.

Play and Charge Your iPod or iPhone The iP9's universal dock plays and charges most docking iPod models (in addition to using them for alarms), along with the iPhone. So when you do finally wake up, your device will have a full charge as you head out the door.

DST Switch Switch to daylight savings time at the flick of a switch, rather than pushing buttons for that whole extra hour.

AM/FM Radio The iP9 delivers solid radio listening, complete with an external AM antenna for better reception. Save your favorite stations on the AM/FM presets.

Big Sound, Small Package The iP9 delivers powerful audio with stereo drivers in specially designed Reson8 speaker chambers.

Reson8 is iHome's through-body ported speaker chamber technology. Porting speakers gives better bass response characteristics and helps the iP9 deliver sound beyond its size.

Bass, treble, 3D, and balance controls let you further adjust the sound to your liking.

Auxiliary Input Connect external devices like MP3 or CD players to the rear auxiliary input for your enjoyment.

Full-Function Remote Control Enjoy convenient control from a distance with the included remote--control both radio and iPod functions.

iHome iH52 Bookshelf System with AM/FM Radio and Dock for iPod (Black) Review

I bought mine at Target. I put by iPod in the display model in the store, hit "play" and man...what a sound! No hiss, awsome bass. (Perhaps some other reviewers should take theirs back while they can and request an exchange.) With sound this good, I couldn't justify paying $150 more for the Apple HiFi.
We brought it home (paid $199 in the store) and my 12-year-old was able to direct installation with no difficulty. Yes, there ARE lots of cables, but they are logical, color coded and really not difficult to manage. You'll need a phillps or nut driver to attach the FM antenna.
It is designed for a bookshelf, but we set it up with the subwoofer (that big, heavy speaker mentioned in another review) under the bed and the speakers on opposite nightstands.
Sound is wonderful, the remote works perfectly...very intuitive. We did have to refer to the manual to set the clock, but that made sense first time round with the directions.
Only one "I wish"....I wish it had an alarm clock. And I wish I'd known they come in white. I'd have looked elsewhere for one to match my iPod. (Which is a 30G video model. Adapters for all the models were included. Check the package before you buy, mates.)
Happy listening!

The product worked great. It was super easy to set up and use. The sound was good for a clock radio. Unfortunately, when I turned off my lights at night, it looked like I had a street lamp in my room. There was no way to dim it, and I ended up covering it with a towel to sleep. It will be going back. Can't sleep when I'm blinded!

Don't get me wrong I love the design of this stereo/alarm, but that's about it. The sound from the speakers are high pitched (like cheap speakers), so the sound quality isn't very good. The light from the clock is pretty bright. It lights up my whole room and makes it hard to sleep. The alarm setting on isn't thought out. The music comes on blasting or if you set the bell on it, it sounds like a horn. If I would have had a chance to try it out before I purchased it. I don't think I would have bought it.. The honest truth.

Philips AJ300D Clock Radio with iPod/GoGear Dock Review

Philips AJ300D Clock Radio with iPod/GoGear Dock
Average Reviews:

Once you get past the fact that Amazon has really misrepresented this item, I can say that it really is a what I needed. Yes, as mentioned by another reviewer, there is NO CD player funtion at all. It would have been fantastic if Philips had designed it with one in mind, but I think it would have killed it's compact size which is why I bought it. There are only 5 presets (not 20 as per Amazon's description and the unit only plays FM, no AM). This is mentioned in the "Technical Details" of the description page, if you click on it. The detail that there is no CD funtion is there, too - very contradictory.
I love the fact that it's small (I can move it from room to room). There are three wake-up modes (FM radio, gentle wake buzzer, and iPod dock). But, the best item would have to be the wOOx technology for powerful bass, on the back of the unit. That sold me on this "Play and Charge" unit, and I love that feature the most. The sound is excellent for the price. You can still connect a portable CD player, VCR or even an iPod Shuffle, through the AUX port and cord supplied. So, it's not a one trick pony.
The clock function is good, with 3 brightness settings (Bright, Low and OFF), and both Sleep and Snooze funtions on the alarm. I found it simple to set the clock and alarm(s). No battery back-up is a negative. Even a simple 9V would be enough to keep presets and radio function if the power went out.
Overall: I like it, I really do.

iHome iH9 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black) Review

iHome iH9 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a couple minor complaints with the iHome IH9, let's get those out of the way. First complaint: the AM reception, even with the external antenna isn't great. With the antenna it is "OK" but without the antenna it is non-existent. My previous inexpensive AM/FM clock radio (with digital tuner) did a much better job with AM. Second complaint: I wish the volume wheel & adjustment wheel (top left, top right) were "grippy-er". Laying in bed they are kind of hard to turn. Finally, with the iPod sitting above the clock it seems a touch funky and fragile, but I think it is probably fine - almost all the iPod clocks have this EXACT same design, so, I am just paranoid.
Now, for the things I like. The sound is really good. I don't think it is an "auto-set" clock, but it came from the factory already set. Keeps good time (so far). Readout is super easy to read. There are 7 brightness settings to the display, including OFF, and it fast and easy to switch between them. The fall asleep to (radio/ipod/line-in) is great, the dual alarms to (buzzer/radio/ipod/ipod-playlist/line-in) is great. The fact that either alarm can be 7-day, 5-day (weekday), or 2-day (weekend) is fantastic. The remove is somewhat useful, I guess - haven't used it much.
It is a touch pricey, I paid $90 - but I really love the features and sound. No plans to return it.

The iH9 is an updated and improved successor to iHome's award-winning iH8 clock radio for iPod. The iH9 contains several new features requested by customers, including a remote that controls both the unit and iPod menu functions; controls for bass, treble, and balance; and 3D sound for an enhanced audio experience. iHome has updated the design to make the cabinet even sleeker and more user-friendly, as well as further enhanced the alarm settings--you can wake to your own custom iPod playlist at different times on different days.

iPod, Radio, or Buzzer Alarm Wake to your docked iPod, the radio, or--if you must--a classic buzzer alarm. Whichever you choose, a gradual alarm feature gently raises the alarm volume, so it's not too jarring. Dual alarm lets you set separate wake times.
The 7-5-2 alarm setting means you can set separate wake times, either for every day or separate weekday/weekend times. You also can wake to the playlist or song of your choice.
The alarm also boasts a number of features to ensure you get up in the morning. Battery backup means you'll still get up in the event of a power failure, and Alarm Reset turns off the alarm and automatically resets it for the same time the following day. If you choose to wake to your iPod but no iPod is docked, you're still covered--the iH9 will sound the buzzer instead.
Sleep Features In designing the iH9, iHome paid special attention to the other end of the alarm clock equation--going to bed. Fall asleep to your iPod or the radio, with programmable sleep times of 120, 90, 60, 30, or 15 minutes. Gentle Sleep gradually decreases the music volume as you drift off to dreamland.
What's more, an Adjustable Sleep volume solves an old alarm clock problem, allowing you to select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the "wake to" or listening volume levels.
Programmable Snooze The iH9's programmable snooze feature allows you to set snooze intervals of 1 to 60 minutes, so you can milk every last second of sleep before you're late for work.
Play and Charge Your iPod The iH9's universal dock plays and charges most docking iPod models (in addition to using them for alarms). So when you do finally wake up, your iPod will have a full charge as you head out the door.
Quick Time Zone and DST Switch Traveling or moving with your iH9? Adjust the preset time to any of seven different time zones at the touch of a button. Ditto on that pesky daylight savings time.
AM/FM Radio The iH9 delivers solid radio listening with PLL digital tuning, an external AM antenna for better reception, and built-in automatic frequency control (AFC) for enhanced FM reception.
Save your favorite stations on the four AM, four FM1, and four FM2 presets.
Big Sound, Small Package The iH9 delivers 6 watts of great sound, thanks to its high-fidelity stereo speakers in specially designed isolated speaker chambers. Dial in the bass, treble, and balance controls to get just the sound you want, or flip on the 3D setting for an immersive experience.
Need more? The included speaker jack lets you add separate speakers.
Auxiliary Input Connect external devices like MP3 or CD players to the rear auxiliary input for your enjoyment.
Full-Function Remote Control Enjoy convenient control from a distance with the included remote--control radio and iPod functions, plus EQ and volume. You also can control snooze and reset alarm functions, in case the device isn't by your bedside.

iHome iP45 Portable Stereo with Rechargeable Alarm Clock, FM Radio, and Dock for iPod/iPhone Review

iHome iP45 Portable Stereo with Rechargeable Alarm Clock, FM Radio, and Dock for iPod/iPhone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I did not have a chance to compare the sound of this unit directly to other similar units, but my subjective sense is that it has decent sound for the size. It also cranks out a lot of volume - more than enough for what I am using it for (a speaker in the kitchen while I do chores). The bass response is much better than I would have expected. The unit closes to fold fairly flat (a little more than an inch), which is nice if you need to pack it up and move it. It includes a rechargeable battery should you want to take it with you to some location where there is no place to plug in. I can't imagine needing that myself, but perhaps if one wanted to take their music camping, it would be a good choice. I experimented with the battery a bit. After two full hours of non-stop playing, the battery indicator still showed full.
The controls are fairly simple and obvious. It includes adapters for various iPhone models. Unfortunately, as is typical of these devices, you have to remove the phone from its case to get a good connection. I haven't found one yet where that wasn't the case, but that is a feature I would be willing to pay extra for.
I have only two complaints. First, the backup battery for the alarm clock and the remote were dead on arrival. I haven't had a chance to go buy replacements. Consequently, I can't comment on how well the remote works. Secondly, even with the included antenna, the FM reception is not great. It only clearly picks up about half as many stations as the radio in the next room. However, that wasn't really a feature I was looking for in this device. I would be more likely to use the Pandora app or one of the radio station apps on the phone in order to ensure clear sound.

I've been long needing a new alarm clock/radio for my bedroom now and luck has it that SDI Tech just put out on the market something that I was looking for. The iHome is essentially an alarm clock radio with a docking station for the iPod. The unit is no bigger than a regular clock radio, measuring 9.2 in [234mm] width, 2.7in [69mm] height and 5.5in [141mm] depth so it can comfortably fit even on a small nightstand. Packaging contains the unit itself, instructions manual, removable docking station to fit the different kinds of iPods, back-up batteries for when power goes out [we all hate to see the flashing 12:00 when this happens], power adapter and an external radio antenna. No remote control though! You have to purchase it separately and it comes free if you buy one of their hard iPod cases for around $40 if I remember right. A smart marketing move, but deplorable. Just include the remote!
Sound quality is what to be expected of speakers of that size. SDI claims to be using an innovative "tunnel sound" system called Reason8 [resonate, how cool :/]. They're pretty loud at full blast but I was hoping they would offer a deeper, stronger sounding bass. I have a similar sized pair of computer desktop speakers that came with one of my old Hewlett Packard computers that offer better sounding bass. For those that don't listen to a lot of techno, I suppose it's no biggie. Reason8 does sound better than most other competitors out there tough, but doesn't quite touch Bose or Altec Lansing.
The iHome has some very cool features. Even without a docked iPod it can still offer quite good functionality: alarm clock, radio. On the back of the unit there is aline in on the back so you can connect pretty much any audio device and listen through the speakers. The Snooze button also adjusts the display brightness, offering 3 different settings. Also found on the back of the unit there is a small button for daylight savings time, sleep volume adjustment and clock set-up.
Dock an iPod and things get interesting. While charging it, you can listen to music directly through it, you can set it so it automatically shuts off at intervals ranging from 120 minutes to 60 to 30 to 15. As the timer approaches zero, volume slowly and subtly turns itself down.
You can set it so when it's time to wake up, you will be awaken to the sound of music coming from your little mp3 player.
Gripes:
Remote control not included. What gives? Smart marketing move, as I've mentioned above, but it would have been nice to have it included, given the unit's price.
Even on the lowest brightness setting I still find the unit too bright for my taste. The blue hue lights up my whole room. I sent an e-mail to SDI tech support inquiring about ways to make it dimmer, no response yet. If this is to be an alarm clock radio, why didn't they offer more than just 3 brightness settings? If nothing else, I think I'll find some translucent duct tape and put it over the front display, trying my best to make it blend with the design.
Buttons on the top have a different color than the front display. The front is a warm blue, the buttons are orange. I personally think from a design standpoint the unit would have looked more ballanced if it was in a single color.
Speaking of buttons, they seem rigid to the touch, giving off a loud click when pressed. The round turn buttons for volume and settings are a bit tricky to use. It may be just my unit but I found both to be sometimes unresponsive and when they finally do work, they are too touchy. I think it would have been a very nice feature if, for the price claimed on such a unit, the buttons would have been replaced with tactile wheels, just like the iPod.
Radio antenna cable has a plug that's actually in the middle of the cable itself. It would have been nice if the thing actually plugged in the very back of the unit, so if it wasn't needed [like in my case], one wouldn't have to worry about ducking away 3 inches of useless tangle.
Another nice feature would be the ability to select exactly what song on the iPod to wake up to. Presently, the thing just picks up where it left off playing the night before.
My Samsung cellphone is at fault for the following gripe, having spoiled me rotten. My phone has 3 settings for alarms: daily, Monday through Friday or Saturday and Sunday. Would be nice if the iHome had a similar feature, so if you go to bed late on a Friday and forget to turn off the alarm, you won't be awaken Saturday morning.
Final Thoughts:
I purchased this unit primarily because I wanted a system that allowed me to listen to my tunes as I read a book before going to sleep. I also needed a new, functional alarm clock. The SDI iHome paired these two needs into one nice option. I had $100 worth of gift certificates at Best Buy so I figured why not. If it wasn't for my abovementioned "overdue" needs, I probably would have waited. Wait and see what the competition comes out with. Wait for the price to go down a bit because as it stands right now, it's a bit high. If you end up purchasing it, rest assured that it's a nice gadget that will surely serve you well. Nice features, good sound quality, best suited to be used in a bedroom.

With its built-in docking station and clean, contemporary design, the iHome iH5 clock radio is the perfect complement for your Apple iPod digital music player. Not only does the iH5 let you listen to your iPod music free from cumbersome headphones, it also lets you fall asleep or wake to music you've loaded into your iPod. You can also wake or sleep to FM/AM radio or wake to a traditional buzzer. The compact unit measures roughly 9 x 3 x 6 inches (W x H x D) yet comes complete with stereo speakers, drift-free digital FM/AM radio tuning, a multifunction LCD with adjustable backlighting, and the ability to charge your docking iPod's battery right from its center seat. (The iH5 includes handy inserts to accommodate any type of docking iPod: gen 3, gen 4, iPod mini, or iPod photo.) Immediately upon plugging it in and the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory-installed 100-year calendar (year/month/day, 2000 to 2099). The clock will maintain accuracy all on its own, even self-adjusting for Daylight Savings time and leap years. Fall asleep to your favorite station or a carefully chosen iPod playlist using the unit's programmable sleep timer (15 to 120 minutes in 15-minute increments). Gradual Wake and Gradual Sleep features will increase (with on wake-up) or decrease (on sleep) the system volume so as not to startle you. Adjustable sleep volume lets you select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels. A supplied analog audio interconnect affords hookups with non-docking iPods, other MP3 players, cassette players, or other audio devices. Other features include automatic frequency control (AFC) for enhanced FM reception, an amber backlight on all primary buttons, and optical knobs for precise volume/tuning. For extra security, if you've selected iPod as your wake-to source and your iPod isn't docked, a buzzer will sound instead. The clock also comes with Sure Alarm battery backup--just install 2 AA batteries to activate the feature. In the event of a power failure, or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move it, the Sure Alarm system will maintain your clock and alarm setting for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarm will sound at the set time. The iH5 is "Made for iPod"-certified by Apple. What's in the Box Clock radio, a stereo analog audio interconnect, dock inserts for any type of docking iPod (gen 3, gen 4, iPod mini, iPod photo, iPod nano), an AC power adapter, and a user's manual with warranty information.

iHome iH6 Clock Radio for iPod (White) Review

iHome iH6 Clock Radio for iPod (White)
Average Reviews:

I bought this on a whim, since I've been waking up to my $5 alarm-radio recently. The build quality is excellent, and the ported chambers are good. Not anywhere like the bose wave radio, but pretty decent. I'd rate it lower than bookshelf speakers, about on par with mid-grade computer speakers, and above most clock radios.
The layout is good. It's a little funny to set the alarms; hold the "alarm 1" button, then turn the dial quickly or slowly till it's done, then press "Alarm On" to toggle alarm 1, alarm 2, alarm 1 & 2, off. Once you get used to it, everything is easy. The radio tuning is done by turning the dial, the "scan" is only on the remote. Remote works well from 10ft away.
However, on the front of the box it states "Works with all dockable iPods" with an asterisk. On the other side of the package, in tiny letters, it says "not compatible with 3G iPod". I really have a contention with the use of the word "All" when it doesn't mean "All". On picking this item up quickly, I saw the star but didn't think to check out the exception; I thought it referred to the "iPod not included" elsewhere on the package. I would never have expected "All dockable iPods" to mean the same as "All dockable iPods except the 3G dockable iPod". Other radios say "Compatible with 4G, 5g, Photo..." and so on. Much more clear. Incidentally, the iH5 (earlier version) is 3G friendly, and I'll probably be picking that up soon.
Another note: the "2 alarms" isn't as nice as I thought; 1 alarm is beeper or ipod, the 2nd is radio. I wanted 2 ipod alarms, or 2 any alarms. It puzzles me why they decided to limit each alarm. So essentially, this is a 1 1/2 alarm ipod alarm clock for me.
Overall, good design, good build, recommended product unless you have a 3G.
(Rating 4 stars, no minus for the 3G incompatibility)

Hello Kitty Speakers for iPod Review

Hello Kitty Speakers for iPod

My daughter loves these speakers. They are compact and the sound is quite good. I gave these a 4 rather than a 5 because the adapter for the Nano does not hold the Ipod as securely as on other speaker systems I've seen. I'm concerned that unless my daughter is particularly careful when putting the Ipod on or removing it from the dock, the connector could bend or break. Otherwise, this is a great little system.

I too had read a million reviews for a million products. I decided to risk it with this since most of the reviews were good. I have A 4TH GENERATION NANO- and yes there is an adapter for it. We listen to it everyday. IT CHARGES YOUR IPOD WHILE DOCKED. The sound is great. The color change is cool. I wanted something small that sounded great. I use it in every room of the house, especially the kitchen while I am preparing meals. The sound is great for such a small cube. I would recommend this to anyone of any age. In a day where most things don't do what they say in the advertisement, finally something that exceeds those promises. You won't go wrong with this one.

The cube also features four color change settings for cycling through the colors, which is great for parties and other fun occasions.
Enjoy Your Music The iH15W charges docked iPods, so when you hit the road, your iPod will be ready to go. Two Reson8 speakers provide great sound, and a passive subwoofer covers the low-end, so you can count on rich sound from a tiny device.

iHome iH30 Boom Box with FM Radio for iPod (Black) Review

iHome iH30 Boom Box with FM Radio for iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's not a bad package all in all -- lightweight, runs off C batteries or an AC power adapter, charges your iPod when docked, and has dock adapters for all but the newest iPod nano models. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the box also included a 1/8" phone plug cable for connecting non-iPod devices and a 12V car power adapter.
My iPod mini and 5G iPod fit snugly into the dock, and the secure fit makes it much easier to use the click wheel than on competing products where the iPod can wobble a bit.
The sound quality is merely adequate and bass is nonexistent. You just can't expect very much from such a small unit. So much for the "Rich full sound" promised by the advertising copy.
I'm rating it only 2 stars because it's not worth the MSRP. I was able to pick one up for a good deal less than list price because of a sale at the local electronics superstore, but with the normal pricing it just doesn't offer a whole lot for the money.

Jensen Jims-120-W Docking Digital Music System For Ipod Review

Jensen Jims-120-W Docking Digital Music System For Ipod
Average Reviews:

I bought this docking station with the understanding (as indicated in the description) that it would recharge an iPod Nano. But it won't recharge any new iPods (meaning anything produced within the past 12 or 14 months). The manual clearly states that it will charge iPod Nanos if the software is up to date, but this is not true. I telephoned the company that distributes it ([...]) and was told that there was a misprint in their manual and that there was nothing I could do about it. Amazon would not take it back because they do not themselves sell the product, and Spectra would not because 30 days had elapsed since I bought it (because it was a Christmas present for someone else and we did not realize its failings until January). If you have an old iPod that you have not upgraded, buy this, but otherwise do not.

I saw in a previous review that the 3rd generation IPOD wouldn't play on their system. Just got the 3rd generation and it plays fine. My daughter got this as a Christmas gift and loves it. I looked everywhere for a system that served as an IPOD dock and had a CD player in the $50 range. Very hard to find. This system fit the bill and she couldn't be happier with it.
